What do you expect? He's calling it VI when its actually III. Seems to me Podhoretz doesn't have a clue from the getgo.

I could have swore a couple of weeks ago I read another thread that Padme was part of the dark side? That's why Obi Wan says Anakin was "seduced" to the dark side.
On another note, Attack Of The Clones was on tv yesterday and the way Natalie Portman talked grated so badly on my nerves - I had to take a pill.

If the darkside of the force can bring back the dead then how did the Emperor dies at the end of Return of the Jedi and why didn't Darth recreate his lost hand and fill in the holes in his head.
I hope there is a scene at the end of the movie where Darth threatens the Emperor with a breach of promise suit.
'Where's my hand! Look at my head! Do you think I like walking around in this black beer can! It's hotter than hell in here! Where's my lawyer?'

Hmmmm. To read this thread more I would like, but like its going to rain it looks. Ass I must haul, before wet I get.
Maybe Lucas could hire me to write some dialog?

I could have swore a couple of weeks ago I read another thread that Padme was part of the dark side? I read it too. It was satire.

That'd be a scary sight... Jar Jar with a two ended lightsaber and the power of the darkside.

I regard it [Forbidden Planet] more highly than the more talked about The Day the Earth Stood Still. Both those films, [Forbidden Planet & "The Day...] along with "War of the Worlds" are in my personal "Top Three Best Sci-Fi Films Ever Made" category.
The reason I like "The Day..." so much, is Klsatu's closing speach, right before he gets on board the saucer and gets the heck out of DC:
"...I came here to give you these facts. It is no concern of ours how you run your own planet. But if threaten to extend your violence, this Earth of yours will be reduced to a burned-out cinder..."
Not to mention this classic line:
Gort! Klaatu barada nikto!

Forbidden Planet
My favorite cheapo 50s sci-fi movie was "Target Earth," which is kind of a rip-off of "War of the Worlds." It has wonderfully banal dialogue, such as:
Woman: "I wonder what they'll do next?"
Man: "I wish I knew."
And in a city that has been evacuated to save the public from some unknown threat, the [left behind in the city because he had been mugged and knocked out the night before] hero's first decision is to head for the center of the city rather than to get out of the city. lol

Man, I love old science-fiction movies. Even the ones with terrible effects.

I saw the original Star Wars a couple years after it came out and was amazed that a film that was so bad could gather such a cult-like devotion. Who was listening to the dialogue? Not moi. I was watching Han Solo & Princess Leia & Luke Skywalker. I saw original in 1977 at the theater. Star Wars was ahead of its time then. (Still have the movie program thingy from then, too.)

Darth should have consulted the dems.
They can bring back the dead, at least long enough vote!

Darth Vader/Anakin was the chosen one, it just didn't work out like everyone (in the fictional Star Wars world) thought it would. I'm not sure it didn't work out.
He was supposed to bring "balance" to the force, but most of the jedi's were good, why would they want balance, thats like having a clot of cops and bringing in criminals to even things out.
He did bring balance, it went from overwhelming good to him cleaning house.
I always thought they got the whole prophesy wrong and it was his song who would straighten everything out.

Yeah, that is a great line. I loved that no one could find the door on the space ship (if i remember the scene correctly).
