Most Muslim countries, thanks to the anti-American media (at home and abroad), are full of poor, ignorant, malcontent extremists who need an enemy to blame for their misery. Completely agreed - however, I do not believe blaming the article for the violence (especially when a full retraction has been made) is right. Yes, Newsweek messed up, but so did Dan Rather - where were the riots, violence and death in the aftermath of that?

Needless to say, I do not respond well to someone questioning my intelligence for stating an opinion with which you do not agree (it is, in my mind, a very democratic tactic and in poor taste). What I value most about FReep is the intelligence of the overwhelming majority of the members, the recognition that we are, for all intents and purposes, on the same side and yet we are all fully entitled to our opinions even if they differ from the Sheeple mentality.
