Yes, it is. In fact, a century ago, it may well have been the preferred spelling.

The fact that the media did a number on Quayle is not necessarily determinative of whether he would be viable or not. There is going to be a considerable upheaval in both parties, before 2008, barring something very extraordinary. The reasons are complex, if attempted verbally. But a scan of what is going on, both in America and vis-a-vis with other lands, with whom we are very involved, together with a look at the complex factions of contemporary society, makes it very difficult not to see that something major is likely to develop.

For that very reason, however, it may be very premature to make any plans for 2008.

All of that said, I believe that Quayle would be a more principled man than some others being more prominently discussed.

But my point is, that it is way too early to make any sort of realistic assessment of the political climate.
