Boy..you exicite me..then depress me..all in a few sentences..
SARBANES ALREADY ANNOUNCED HIS RETIREMENT WEEKS AGO!!!!
(Not yelling at you specifically, but about 20 different people have "speculated" in the past couple of weeks about whether Sarbanes would run, and whether he could be beat.
He announced retirement, and there are 3 democrats who announced an interest in the seat: Cardin, Mfume, and a 3rd one I can't remember.
No republicans announced yet, a lot of pressure is being put on the current Lt. Governor, Steele. The President even called him away to be an envoy to the Vatican at the end of April.
No. No nominee has been brought to the floor for debate and a possible calling for the vote.
Five Circuit Court nominees are on the Senate's Executive Calendar. A major amendment to the Highway bill is now operating under the 30 hour time limit following a 92-something cloture vote last week, and under Rule XXII, that matter is the sole business of the Senate in legislative session until a vote is taken on it (the amendment). Following that - probably tomorrow - the Senate will "back up" through amendments until it reaches the basic highway bill, as amended.
A judicial nominee could be brought up then. Wednesday at the earliest.
BLAM!
Frist didn't respond..he walked off the floor..he is pissed at Reid...
you are assuming he will have a choice...
Rush should change his "For those of you from Rio-Linda" to "For those of you from Searchlight".
ROTFLOL! YES!
One of us MUST get thru to Rush with your very suggestion!
PRICELESS!
The only thing Wisconsin has going for it in 2006 is a very unpopular Dem Gov (34% favorable as of last week), and that we may have a gay marriage amendment on the ballot.
Dingy... you're disPICable!!
FWIW, Roger Hedgcock filling in for Rush today said the first nomination would come to the floor by the end of the week. Tony Snow reported his best sources are saying next week.
The best thing is that all this up in the air speculation is driving the media as crazy as it is us, LOL.
Wednesday at the earliest?
Thanks for the information. No need to stand by now.
I like that list.
Makes me feel pretty good. Got a Pubbie watch/replacement list? Maybe we could get a few RINO's out as well.
I think one of mine, Dewine, is up.
Don't miss this! http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1404176/posts?page=387#387
Oh!!!!....
Yes, I know that...I was referring to a possible early departure, and an appointment by the governor...which is why I made that reference in my post.
Thanks for the replies....
I think the dinner was already schedule in advance of this Judicial thing so it may or may not have been a topic of discussion although I don't see how it would not have been.
Has Sen. Frist decided upon Owen 1st and Brown 2nd? The last I'd read or seen he hadn't committed. Time wise it isn't his to decide unless he can get consent from the democrats.... If they consent to a time then the filibuster isn't in their plans.....
Sorry about that *L*
But the "true" conservatives in PA are a fickled crowd
They have not forgiven Rick for endorsing Spector and not Tommey during the Primary
Because of the big cities like Philly .. they could blew any opportunity to keep both Senate seats
LOL! You are a Fudd Fan!
Can't you just see Harry Reid as Elmer Fudd? Cheeks not as chubby of course. Elmer was a much nicer person, however.
And I think of John Bolton as Yosemite Sam. I could go on and on.
Pennsylvania: a red state with blue parentheses
re 2006, though..at the BEST the Dems can keep the same number..they have no chance of picking up seats.however, the GOP in a perfect storm..could run the table..
