Dean rips DeLay at convention
DRUDGE

May 15, 2005

Howard Dean, chairman of the Democratic National Party, said yesterday that the US House majority leader, Tom DeLay, ''ought to go back to Houston where he can serve his jail sentence," referring to allegations of unethical conduct against the Republican leader.

Dean's remark, in a speech to Massachusetts Democrats at their party convention, drew an immediate rebuke from US Representative Barney Frank, the Newton Democrat and one of DeLay's harshest critics. ''That's just wrong," Frank said in an interview on the convention floor. ''I think Howard Dean was out of line talking about DeLay. The man has not been indicted. I don't like him, I disagree with some of what he does, but I don't think you, in a political speech, talk about a man as a criminal or his jail sentence."

DeLay faces accusations he may have violated House rules by taking foreign trips paid for by lobbyists. In a separate case, a Texas grand jury indicted three fund-raisers with ties to DeLay on accusations of campaign-finance irregularities.

Dean, the former Vermont governor, lost his bid for the Democratic nomination to Senator John F. Kerry.

Old Barney denounces Dean for making these kinds of remarks because everyone knows the D.C. lobbyists have paid for a helluva lot more than foreign trips for politicos and Congressmen! "Can we keep this out of the front news, please!"

BTW, "a Texas grand jury indicted three fund-raisers with ties to DeLay on accusations of campaign-finance irregularities"...isn't that the same side of the coin that faces Hillary's campaign manager out in California? How come the Dems see HER as totally innocent of any knowledge of the guy's financial activities, but Tom DeLay is guilty by association?

Every time Howard opens his mouth, Right-leaning PACs get more money.

Frankfurter knows that he and his fellow Rats got nothing on DeLay and Dean is only making them look like the wackos they really are.

Can you imagine the fear that goes through most of the more famous rats every time Howie Dean goes on TV?

They hold their breaths in fear the whole time he's the air at what that wing nut will spew forth.

The more sensible ones know what a danger he is to them.

Just let Dean, et al, keep painting themselves into a corner. (Emperor Palpatine) "I feel the hate swelling within him" (/palpatine)

I agree, it's only a matter of time before Howie says something absolutely outrageous, and then the MSM, who I think have little if any respect for him despite the fact he is a dem, will kick him in the butt.

Sometimes I think the Democrats are purposely trying to self-destruct.

Given that former Governor Howard Dean is more or less a toady for the Michael Moore/MoveOn.org crowd, is it small wonder why Dean makes these looney remarks?

I actually find it refreshing that a major politician is not being all nicey, nicey. He's a leftist but I'm glad he's got the guts to speak his mind. We could use some more red meat in politics. It makes it more fun and hardens the battle. Much better than both sides fighting for the squishy, worthless middle.

And he lost to an even bigger loser in the Dem primaries. Does that make him a loser to the second power?

Gee, Howie. Using your yardstick, what should be the disposition of Teddy Kennedy?

Now that Dean has declared Delay guilty, how could he get a fair trial, even if he were indicted?

I've always wondered how Dean managed to get his hands on so much money during the Presidential primaries. Must have been something illegal going on, I figure.

Howard Dean makes Barney Frank look rational and conservative.

Are the Dems really that stupid to have him this leadership position?

I guess they are.

"Go back to Houston"? Delay does not live in Houston. He is from Sugarland Texas.

If the Democrats had any sense, they'd put Dr. Judy into the Chairmanship and send Howard back to Vermont to run the practice. But they've got too much hate to be sensible.

Dean ought to go back to Vermont where he can serve his insane asylum prescription.

Maybe barney boy knows a little bit about stone throwers living in glass houses! Many, many more democritter politicians have done more than what Delay has been accused of and will be in front of him when it comes time for the Ethics committee. I wonder if the MSM will cover Baghdad Jim's comeuppance?
