Which cartoon characters are they playing? By the way, the girl in the picture looks overcome by her emotion. Must be once in a lifetime experience for her.:-)

In the meantime, somewhere in China,

Between the two pictures, I think we saw children on the top and the one on the bottom in living standard.

That sounds like it could be fun for kids. I'll bet that could catch on here. It would be a fad, like laser-tag and DIscovery Zone. Somebody with money ought to finance a couple of these places and then sell franchises.

Probably is fun. I see it's spread across the Sea of Japan as well as the Pacific: Cosplay is a staple among anime fans in Japan (not just, and not mostly children) and has spread to the US (among anime fans). Actually, it's usually fairly pathetic--especially when they try to dress up as the gorgeous doe-eyed heroines with impossibly long flowing hair, who can only exist on animation cells because the laws of physics and actual human anatomy won't support the beautiful hair or eyes.

(Think Trekkies or Star Wars fans for a more widespread analog here.)

As a very long-time anime fan and convention staffer for many years now, they generally have a blast showing off their hard work in making their costumes. I never got into cosplay myself, but sometimes very impressed by some of their handy work.

Part of the interest IS trying to make something nearly impossible work in a costume. It is interesting to see the ways people try to make things work in order to bring to life something imaginary.
I have coplayed a few times at conventions myself. Now I work staff for one so I don't have time to. I know other freepers and lurkers that have cosplayed also.
