Vice-President Cheney would lose badly. He will be on long and short lists as a thank-you courtesy, nothing more.
My choice at this early date is George Allen, Prez.....and Condi Rice, Veep.
This would be a team where each would bring a variety of talents and experience needed to the table.....melding everything into a powerful whole.
