Mexico's Fox furious at prospect of tougher US laws on illegals.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican President Vicente Fox called recent U.S. measures to stem illegal immigration a step back for bilateral relations on Friday and said Mexican migrants do jobs "that not even blacks want to do."

In comments likely to raise the temperature of the immigration debate, Fox defended the role of undocumented Mexican workers in the United States to a group of Texas business people meeting in Mexico.

"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States," he said in a speech broadcast in part on local radio and reported on newspaper web sites.

Fox said recent, tougher measures against immigrants do not represent "the road we should be building between friends and partners."

Mexico has been seeking an accord with Washington for years to make it easier for millions of illegal Mexican immigrants to live and work in the United States. The country expects to repatriate this year more than 250,000 foreigners, mostly Central Americans headed for the U.S. border.

Mexican hopes were raised early last year when President Bush proposed a temporary worker program but it has become bogged down in Congress.

A key partner in U.S. border security, Mexico is upset at new U.S. controls on foreign-born people, including tougher rules to obtain drivers' licenses.

Congressional Republicans attached the immigration changes to legislation providing $82 billion in emergency funds for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush is expected to sign the legislation into law soon.

The law, approved unanimously by the Senate on Tuesday, waives environmental rules to allow the extension of a fence on the border between California and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants. Mexico calls the measure "overly extreme."

But Fox said he was encouraged by a bill put forward on Thursday by Sens. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, and Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, to allow some of the estimated 10 to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventual citizenship.

"I hope President Bush will support and push the initiative, as he has publicly agreed. I have to take his word and hope he delivers," Fox said.

Being an Ex Coca Cola salesman and delivery driver AND Harvard Grad, Fox probably knows how to finesse these businessmen. After all he finessed Bush first!

Those Mosque's are a real problem and are going to have to be dealt with sooner or later.

Think about this:  pretty soon, America will have more Mosque's then military bases.  Sure scares me and I'm not afraid of nothing. heh!

Ouch. I wasn't comparing issues, but pointing out the fact that Jackson doesn't totally adhere to partisan ideology.

Thanks for the ping!!!

I just got back from the grocery store and I was already hopping mad before I saw this post....

I was buying paper towels, at Kroger and I like their store brand of paper towels---I had a hard time finding them because they changed the packaging--NOW the packages all have every single word on the plastic wrapper in both English and SPANISH! I was furious---

WHY does OUR ENGLISH SPEAKING AND WRITING country have to make bi-lingual labels? Huh? First if all they are paper towels for gosh sakes!!! A Mexican can't tell what paper towels are unless it is written in Spanish????

Whew----I feel better, NOT.

Vincente Fox did not back us in the War in Iraq (WOT) and now he doesn't want us to keep our country safe, IDIOT.

BTW, I may be taking this a little differently. He said that we won't leave the borders open for jobs that "even black people wouldn't do"---I guess he really thinks highly then of his Mexican people if he is BEGGING for that kind of job...at least, IMHO that is what he is saying.

Well, did I ever get an eye opener on post #59. McAllen, Texas has 2 Mexican consulates. The only city in the country to have 2 consulates. Maybe you all will believe me when I say the illegals are everywhere. Is it any wonder that the feds. pay 75% of all the health care here.

"We are a "nation of laws""

Mexico is proving that it is an outlaw nation -- not subscribing to the laws of nations.

Yes, those people are indios, a lower class than the European aristocracy to which estupido cholo Bicente believes he belongs.

I do not purchase any product with bilingual labels, if I can help it. It takes some careful shopping, but... Oh yeah, if the toilet paper is "muy suave," forget it! LOL.

One of the jobs that blacks don't want to do is deal with Mexican immigration.

Jesse Jackson does and maybe now the rest will follow. Also, have you never heard of the Terry Anderson Show?

"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States,"

Guess what, culero.. I don't "want to do" my job either but I manage to do it every day.

I'd rather surf the 'net and grill stuff and go to the gun range.

This dude is a racist at the very least.

As far as I know, that Bill by pals McLame and Old Kennedy has no repercussions on the illegals that didn't comply with the standards set forth in the Bill.

No wonder The Fox liked it.

Well, well. That ought to modify the stats on volunteers for future Minuteman activities...

That's a good idea! I never thought of that. I'll have to watch for the Mexican labels, now. I do watch for French labels already.

I read many articles about the Muslims right after 9/11, and the "slithering" into American society under our "radar" is exactly their modus operandi---they plan on building up their population and getting power in business and politics, and take over America USING America's laws and political system to do it...

From what I hear, they are a very patient people---look at 9/11, that took years to plan...

"I guess they taint his own aristocratic image."

Maybe he doesn't care that Mexico's chief export is toilet cleaners and pea pickers.

As King of the Krappers, I think he should replace the epaulettes on his uniform with mini-toilet plungers.

We've ignored this situation for so long that it's now reached a crisis.

And Pres. Bush can fix it, but he WON'T. That makes me mad !
