Mexico's Fox furious at prospect of tougher US laws on illegals.

MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican President Vicente Fox called recent U.S. measures to stem illegal immigration a step back for bilateral relations on Friday and said Mexican migrants do jobs "that not even blacks want to do."

In comments likely to raise the temperature of the immigration debate, Fox defended the role of undocumented Mexican workers in the United States to a group of Texas business people meeting in Mexico.

"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States," he said in a speech broadcast in part on local radio and reported on newspaper web sites.

Fox said recent, tougher measures against immigrants do not represent "the road we should be building between friends and partners."

Mexico has been seeking an accord with Washington for years to make it easier for millions of illegal Mexican immigrants to live and work in the United States. The country expects to repatriate this year more than 250,000 foreigners, mostly Central Americans headed for the U.S. border.

Mexican hopes were raised early last year when President Bush proposed a temporary worker program but it has become bogged down in Congress.

A key partner in U.S. border security, Mexico is upset at new U.S. controls on foreign-born people, including tougher rules to obtain drivers' licenses.

Congressional Republicans attached the immigration changes to legislation providing $82 billion in emergency funds for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush is expected to sign the legislation into law soon.

The law, approved unanimously by the Senate on Tuesday, waives environmental rules to allow the extension of a fence on the border between California and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants. Mexico calls the measure "overly extreme."

But Fox said he was encouraged by a bill put forward on Thursday by Sens. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, and Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, to allow some of the estimated 10 to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventual citizenship.

"I hope President Bush will support and push the initiative, as he has publicly agreed. I have to take his word and hope he delivers," Fox said.

If there is ever a terrorist attack because of this border issue then Bush should resign.

It would be an interesting conundrum for him. What the h*ll would our President be able to say on TV that night after a serious attack succeeds and we trace the evildoers definitively to a Mexican crossing?

"My fellow Americans, the terrorists have taken Advantage of our Kindness toward the Proud, Hardworking Citizens of Mexico, our Beloved Neighbor to the south, and have ruthlessly sneaked into our country in the midst of Good People who come here to Better their Lives. This Will Not Stand!"

I mean, are Americans going to buy that cowpie?

Do we have a sovereign border or don't we?

Americans are afraid to ask, "What next?"

The Mexican government now publishes a book instructing its nationals on how to be an illegal.

Ironically, one of the big selling points of the NAFTA deal was that it would greatly alleviate illegal Mexican border-jumping......but since that time it has skyrocketed.

Adding insult to injury American taxpayers are subsidizing foreign aid transfers to Mexico. The government of Mexico---with all of its oil revenue----needs to be taking care of its own people, "outsourcing' them as wards of American taxpayers. Mexico can well-afford it.

Mexico has more "Forbes" billionaires, 11, than all but eight other nations. It has more billionaires than Saudi Arabia, Switzerland or Taiwan. It also has more than 85,000 millionaires.

According to a CNN report, Mexico sits on oil reserves worth about $400 billion, but Mexico's state-owned oil company, Pemex, doesn't have the investment funds to tap those reserves, and Mexico's Congress refuses to allow foreign investment in Pemex.

According to Visa International--which is now clamoring for a share of the transfer fees--American money sent South of the Border by illegals constitutes $38 BILLION this year alone constituting Mexico's second largest most profitable industry.

America should mandate proof for all cash transfers out of the US and/or force all transferring agencies -- banks, credit unions, Amex, Western Union to collect a substantial withholding tax -- 50%, say -- on every unexplained foreign remittance.

America needs to seal our borders and let Vincente Fox know that we will cut off every penny in aid he gets from the United States.

Fox's elitist, unmitigated contempt for working-class Americans cannot go unchallenged.

"I don't think we have a choice."

We always have a choice. We may not like the ones in front of us, but there are choices.

"The government is going to do what they want..."

Always a given. Merely makes for hard choices.

I never have understood why we kowtow to the wishes of Fox. Why?

I do not understand it myself. It's like he's got Bush by the jock strap. I would like to hear our President just once stand up to Fox.

"Some do and some don't. One thing for sure, employers like seeing a friendly face to work with, not the surly unionistas that have stagnated our work ethic with "we'd rather die than take a paycut"."

Are you justifying Mexican national coming to our communities for free health care and education because of American "work ethic"?

I don't agree! America has only about 5.5% unemployment and our GDP growth seems to be growing. I think Mexicans come here for benefits: free health, under-the-table money and fantastic opportunities. If I lived in Mexico, I would run across the border with my family AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

If the Government won't enforce the law, then they must change the law and allow free immigration. Otherwise we will be living with a bunch of government defined "immigration criminals".

You want to see what America will look like in 50 years? Consider China.

That's what scares me - not for myself, but for my grandchildren. Wall-to-wall people isn't a good future...

I hope you're right (for America's sake).

I just heard on The Beltway Boyzzzzz that the major of LA is going to lose to a guy with a Spanish surname----

Does that mean that the billboard that had the USA part covered and Mexico over it, will become more common place?

Will that part of California become Mexifornia as Victor Davis Hansen wrote?

I hope you saw the post regarding the Dallas School Council is going to require the Principals of all of the schools become fluent in spanish because over 40 of the schools are majority Mexican....

"'There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do

SO.... this little dicktator is saying....American blacks HAVE NO dignity, No willingness, and No ability to work.

KNOW WHAT I have to say to that????

He can keep his race-pimping mouth SHUT. KEEP his wetback interlopers in his OWN sorry country. And LET his countrymen do the work that his aristocracy won't allow in their OWN country.

And this WHITE WOMAN will GLADLY tell that butthole he is a LIAR. Because I have worked with 'his lesser, piss-poor blacks' and we have had ALL worked an HONEST day's work. AND, I have worked with 'his superior' ILLEGAL ALIENS.

I will take a black man/woman,a white American, or even a welfare queen to work along side of, OVER Fox's criminal interlopers.

8 billion dollars to build a fence. Damn, it would pay for itself in six months, maybe less in savings from health and education funds.

There was a time when there was pride in the fact that the borders between Canada and Mexico were open through trust and respect. Fox has just destroyed the trust and respect we have for him. Build the fence.

Uh-Oh .... I wonder what their response will be to that?

I have a suggestion for ole Vincente. It would be physically impossible for anyone to do, except possibly for a Hermaphroditus weasel like him, if you know what I mean.
