Yeah I'll bet being a conservative in England the last few years has been hard to take. Are there any potential strong conservatives on the horizon? Correct me if I'm wrong but you did gain some strength from this last election didn't you?

I know one thing I'm still amazed that Tony Blair supported President Bush through all of this, I would have never believed it before 9-11. But some bonds are just to strong to break which is good, and its allowed England to come down on the right side of this battle with islamic facists.

What are the chances of the Kosovians returning? Probably the same as in the USA, slim and none.

Oh yes we did make some gains in the last election which I think shows that there is not that much opposition amongst the everyday Brits to the policy in Iraq because in particular the Conservative Party are the pro Iraq conflict even if they do not agree with how Tony Blair took us to war.

We gained over 30 seats but Blair has a 67 seat majority in parliament and has just created I think it was 27 labour peers in the Lords so that for the first time in history the Labour Party is the largest single party now the in Lords. Overall they are not but this would include the Lib Dems and the judges etc.

Kosovians returning no chance they will cry political persecution etc etc whilst collecting our social security and free medical treatment which despite the problems with the NHS is still a great deal better than they would get in their own country and of course as aliens for some incredible reason they seem to be given preference but then on the other hand if they do have something grim I would rather have them treated quickly than infect the rest of us.

Regarding rising Conservatives I believe the member for Fulham is considered a rising star - MadIvan has more details.

We will be having a leadership contest shortly as Michael Howard feels that he would be too old to fight the next election from the opposition benches and in his own words he does not keep people who fail and he failed to get his party elected so he feels it is time to step aside. Personally I am slightly sad about this as I think in view of expectations of great failure he in fact achieved more than could ever have been expected of him at the last election. He maybe persuaded to stay until it is decided whether or not we are going to have a referendum on the EU Constitution.

My vote would go with John Redwood if he decides to stand but he may be considered to hard line and to right wing we will just have to wait and see. Current favourite is David Davis though.
