MEXICO CITY (Reuters) - Mexican President Vicente Fox called recent U.S. measures to stem illegal immigration a step back for bilateral relations on Friday and said Mexican migrants do jobs "that not even blacks want to do." In comments likely to raise the temperature of the immigration debate, Fox defended the role of undocumented Mexican workers in the United States to a group of Texas business people meeting in Mexico.

"There is no doubt that Mexicans, filled with dignity, willingness and ability to work are doing jobs that not even blacks want to do there in the United States," he said in a speech broadcast in part on local radio and reported on newspaper web sites.

Fox said recent, tougher measures against immigrants do not represent "the road we should be building between friends and partners."

Mexico has been seeking an accord with Washington for years to make it easier for millions of illegal Mexican immigrants to live and work in the United States. The country expects to repatriate this year more than 250,000 foreigners, mostly Central Americans headed for the U.S. border.

It's time for Vicente Fox to start solving Mexico's problems instead of dumping them on our back porch.

According to another article, Bush was opposed to signign this new law, when he saw it would have passed Congress anyways...and we know he has no clue what a VETO pen is.

I'm certain though, Bush called Fox and apologized profusely, and begged him for foregiveness.

"said Mexican migrants do jobs "that not even blacks want to do."

Which "blacks" is he referring to?

Oh well, it's no surpise when a criminally corrupt politician is exposed as a racist as well.

I am for building a wall, not a road. I am sick of the Mexican invasion. No more illegals should be allowed in and all the ones here now should be sent back to where they belong.

Fox's remark about black reminds me of Howard Dean's comment about "hotel staff".

Will we hear outrage from the DNC and NAACP about Fox's comment?

"Oh well, it's no surprise when a criminally corrupt politician is exposed as a racist as well."

I'm glad you pointed that out!

And Americans would be more than happy to do those jobs if they would be paid the going rate instead of the "under-the-table" rate.

Just who does Fox think picked fruit before the illegals showed up...children were at one time given summer months off from school for just that purpose.

Give that statement to Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton and watch illegal immigration get shut down in 90 days.

Although, Fox doesn't have those liberal views when it comes to his southern border now does he...

Mexican hopes were raised early last year when President Bush proposed a temporary worker program but it has become bogged down in Congress.

A key partner in U.S. border security, Mexico is upset at new U.S. controls on foreign-born people, including tougher rules to obtain drivers' licenses.

Congressional Republicans attached the immigration changes to legislation providing $82 billion in emergency funds for fighting in Iraq and Afghanistan. Bush is expected to sign the legislation into law soon.

The law, approved unanimously by the Senate on Tuesday, waives environmental rules to allow the extension of a fence on the border between California and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants. Mexico calls the measure "overly extreme."

But Fox said he was encouraged by a bill put forward on Thursday by Sens. John McCain, an Arizona Republican, and Edward Kennedy, a Massachusetts Democrat, to allow some of the estimated 10 to 12 million illegal immigrants in the United States to get legal jobs and eventual citizenship.

"I hope President Bush will support and push the initiative, as he has publicly agreed. I have to take his word and hope he delivers," Fox said.

Sounds like we have only Congress to keep W in line with American immigration laws...the more things change, the more they stay the same.

And we thought things would be better with a GOP controlled Congress and a GOP POTUS...guess we have another thought coming. LOL

There should be some rallies for Fox and Co. to shape up their hellish third world country.

Whining, blaming America, and playing the victim just doesn't cut it any more.

The wall in the pic is a start but I want a wall with manned guard towers spaced every mile. Manned with well armed guards that is.

The Immigration and Naturalization Service (INS) estimates that in January of 2000 there were
7 million illegal aliens living in the United States, a number that is growing by half a million a year. Thus, the illegal-alien population in 2003 stands at at least 8 million. Included in this estimate are approximately 78,000 illegal aliens from countries who are of special concern in the war on terror.

One-third of our prison population in the US is comprised of illegal aliens, and even the blacks do not want those jobs, but apparently the Mexicans want them.
