The chairman of the Davidson County Democratic Party has resigned because of child pornography allegations.
Rodney Mullins stepped down Thursday, but has not been arrested.
Police searched a computer at the party headquarters in Metro Center.
Tennessee Democratic Party Chairman Randy Button released a statement Friday about the investigation into Mullins.
The statement read in part, "We have been informed that Rodney Mullins, former Chair of the Davidson County Democratic Party, has resigned. We are further informed that Mr. Mullins is being investigated concerning crimes involving child pornography. If true, this is very disturbing and regrettable news. We don’t have a lot of facts concerning this case, but if true, these are very serious allegations."
Democratic Party Treasurer Bob Tuke said, "This is where good Americans citizens and good Tennesseans stand up and say you know we won't tolerate this at all in any respect whatsoever."
And State Representative Mike Turner said, "There's people in all walks of life and all political parties that do stange things and this is one of those instances."

Ya never know out there he might have just been planting those searches knowing they would be discovered---trying to appeal to a wider base politically. Who would have thought, years ago, that DC would elect drug pushers?
'Scuse me? Strange things? Do I sense that Mr. Turner is trying to minimise things here or what? A lawmaker that gets caught, or even has suspicion of dealing with child porn needs to be investigated all the way up to the proverbial microscope up the ass. But I'm sure he will be able to show that it was all an 'innocent mistake' and he is 'the victim' in these unfortunate circumstances.
