Please don't denegrate McCarthy's name by associating him with what the democrats are doing. Almost single handedly Joseph McCarthy forced communisum down a black hole for about forty years. You may be "Brilliant", but you're dreaming if you think Reid will suffer any sanction or retribution for his unconscionable, but clearly intentional smear of this judicial nominee.

The best we've got going for us is more proof that even Democrats must cringe everytime Reid takes the Senate floor. "Dusty Foot In Mouth Again" should be his nickname. Democrats know how weak a leader Reid is, how inarticulate, how embarrassing, and how unworthy he is to follow in the footsteps of their great senate leaders.

I would think that a good lawyer could make the case that they are not Congressional files. They are FBI files and were "loaned" to the committee - not to Congress - by the Executive Branch with the understanding that only committee members and the two Senators from the individual's state would have access to them.
