U.S. Border Patrol agents have been ordered not to arrest illegal aliens along the section of the Arizona border where protesters patrolled last month because an increase in apprehensions there would prove the effectiveness of Minuteman volunteers, The Washington Times has learned.
More than a dozen agents, all of whom asked not to be identified for fear of retribution, said orders relayed by Border Patrol supervisors at the Naco, Ariz., station made it clear that arrests were "not to go up" along the 23-mile section of border that the volunteers monitored to protest illegal immigration.
"It was clear to everyone here what was being said and why," said one veteran agent. "The apprehensions were not to increase after the Minuteman volunteers left. It was as simple as that."
Another agent said the Naco supervisors "were clear in their intention" to keep new arrests to an "absolute minimum" to offset the effect of the Minuteman vigil, adding that patrols along the border have been severely limited.

....if that don't make you mad....think of this. As long as we keep supporting (which involves carrying the mexican citizens on our backs by working hard to pay for their benefits with our unauthorized withholding tax and our authorized state taxes) .... then the country of Mexico and Viscous Fox will never have to provide or suppport their own citizens. The elite in Mexico City and the other exclusive rich centers of Mexico, get to have it all.....
I wonder if the Fed could be sued as well--by those people who have this horde of dangerous trespassers at their windows and doors everyday.
"The Hispanic population is now the majority minority...
Would they still be the majority minority if illegal aliens were removed from the equation?"
*NO*!
*40% Of all Hispanics in the US are here illegally* and 31% of the projected future increase in the Hispanic population will come from Illegals.
The Census Bureau has been using the "8-10 million" Illegal population since 1988.
Only 24-26 Million Hispanics are actually here legally so that's why all these La Raza groups are fighting for Amnesty so hard for Amnesty.
Blacks are still numero uno in terms of being the most important Voting block of minorities.
Thanks for the information.
"Thanks for the information."
You will NEVER hear the Census Bureau say that 40% of US Hispanics are here illegally, but this was information I was told from a retired Bureua official who said that the Census is Lying through their teeth about what % of Hispanics are here legally.
Blacks are still numero uno in terms of being the most important Voting block of minorities.
How nice of you to let everyone know, and leave an electronic trail behind.
I hope not. So long as we have the five percent who are forced to bake the twinkies. But what happens when the five percent get tired of wrapping all those twinkies and reach for their tricorns? Tar and Twinkie time again, I suppose.
"pandering for Hispanic votes."
There is no other reply. Here's why.
The biggest reason for Bush's victory was that he finally cracked the Democratic stranglehold on the Hispanic vote.
While Gore won 65 percent of the Latino community, holding Bush to a mere 35 percent, Kerry only carried the Hispanic vote by 55-45, paving the way for the Bush victory.
Since Hispanics cast 12 percent of the vote in 2004, their 10-point movement to the GOP gave the president an additional 1.2 percent of the national vote.
Take a similar amount away from Kerry, and the Latinos gave Bush a 2.4 percent edge in the general election balloting.
Since Bush beat Kerry by only 3.1 percent, how important was the Hispanic vote? Vital and crucial.
("The Hispanic Vote Elects Bush," Dick Morris, http://www.newsmax.com/archives/articles/2004/11/4/203450.shtml.)
According to the 2000 US Census, America's overall growth of 40 percent between 1990 and 2000 was, in large part, due to the 58 percent increase in Hispanic population.
One out of 8 people in the US are now Hispanic.
Census figures show that the number of Hispanics grew from 22.4 million in 1990 to 35.3 million in 2000.
US Census projections indicate that by July 1, 2100, there will be 571 million people in the US and 190.3 million Hispanics. If these projections are correct, in less than a century one third of the US will be Hispanic. "Border control or IMPEACHMENT
how's this for a signal?"
LOL!
"Bush isnt alone in this. Just the other day Kennedy and the head RINO McPain endorsed an amnesty plan."
It's a given that the Dems and RINOs support completely open borders. Personally, I am completely committed to the Republican Party and advocate defeating Republican Senators and Congressmen in primaries as the way to effect change.
In terms of independent action, I think the Minuteman approach is 100 percent correct.
In addition, I believe the political process will work. The problem is, we Repubs will lose in 2006 as aprt of that process, as we battle ourselves. No way around it that I can see, and it does not make me happy to have a national intercene Republican war. But you gotta do what you gotta do.
"I think we need to start firing warning shots and freak the illegals out. Make'm think we're gonna toast them!
Bad idea. The border agents will be ordered to start arresting Americans hanging around near the border."
I agree 100%
"as it usually goes, follow the money"
Thanks. Good angle on the problem. The largest single amount of cash, or course, is made by growers, meat processors, hotels, and other businesses now built on illegal labor.
"The problem that Bush seems to be unaware of is that he is antagonizing the support of conservative Hispanics who came here legally,"
Possibly, but Bush cut his political eye teeth in Texas. My sense is he probably has a pretty good handle on the Hispanic vote and seemed to play it well in 2004.
I just don't care.
The borders have to be closed. And they will be. But many people will work very hard to make it happen and some may get hurt. Nonetheless, I see no shortage of people willing to sacrifice. God Bless every one of them. Freedom ain't free, like they say.
If font is the key, that should do it.
"Bush received good money for selling out his country men and he is not going to cross his sponsors."
Regretfully, I agree. Realize of course, Bush was born with more money than he would ever need. But he sold out politically, aparently, and will stay sold out (for campaign dollars, political support, etc.)
"The Party comes first, the good of the country is way down the list of priorities."
There is a lot of truth in this, but it is not a 100% bad truth. Practical politics is one aspect of our society, not always ideals. But sometimes (as now on this issue) ideals must come to the fore. Without borders we have no country. We can't let the politicians deal that one away.
I might even accept some amnesty---as part of legislation that included closing the border and a national ID card.
"Tell them the truth---Bush is a globalist."
Please define the term "globalist."
"This drives me out of my mind!"
Don't go out of your mind. If the sane people go nuts cause its all so crazy, that leaves the real lunatics in charge.
