Death penalty opponents warned that Ross' execution could break down a political and psychological barrier against capital punishment in New England and start a domino effect in the region.

Let the dominoes start falling

Currently, seven people in Connecticut are sentenced to death: 1. Robert Bretton, 2. Sedrick Cobb, 3. Robert Courchesne, 4. Richard Reynolds, 5. Michael Ross, 6. Eduardo Santiago, and 7. Daniel Webb.

it is a damn hoot to watch the liberals whine about this mass murdering piece of crap who stated to all the world his wish to die and yet most of them defended Michael Schiavo on killing his innocent wife on his word only

Gary Lee Sampson was sentenced to _federal_ death row on 12/24/03. He confessed to killing 2 men from Mass. and one from N.H.

http://www.zwire.com/site/news.cfm?newsid=10708291&BRD=1710&PAG=461&dept_id=99784&rfi=6

>>Federal law was changed in 1994 to allow prosecutors to seek the death penalty when a murder is committed during a carjacking.

>>Death penalty opponents criticized the sentence, saying federal officials had ignored the will of Massachusetts voters. State lawmakers have repeatedly defeated attempts to reinstate the state death penalty

...though voters wanted the death penalty restored. When the Mass. Legislature voted on it, Rep. John Slattery
(D-Peabody) _switched sides at the last minute_, "because, he said, of the possibility of an innocent person being executed" (SLATTERY WILL GET YOU NOWHERE)

I was wondering why the Libs make such a big deal about this particular case. I mean, here you have a guy who could not be worse unless he grew horns and a tail. He committed the worst crimes imaginable and he confessed to them all. There is no doubt about his guilt. Furthermore, he does not object to his sentence.

And on this hill, the Libs decided to die... Why?

There are plenty of "better" cases to protest on America's Death Rows. There are many where you could make an argument, however specious, about innocence. There are others where the condemned is borderline insane or retarded. Still others claim a political justification that can be argued from now until the end of time.

But the Libs spend the last six months fighting the execution of a seven-time serial rapist and killer of young girls who wanted to die. Why?

Then you realize, of course, that it has nothing to do with Michael Ross, the poor girls, or even the death penalty. It has everything to do with the Libs themselves, and their sense of smug superiority. As long as the Death Penalty was confined to Southern backwaters, flyover states, and Texas, Libs could comfort themselves and say that it was a brutal practice of those one-eyed, toothless, cousin fornicators who live in such places.

But now it has happened in Connecticut, where people are supposed to know better. Sweet Connecticut, the Nutmeg State, the very castle keep of self absorbed, insulated, suburban Liberalism. How could such a thing happen there, and what does it say about them? Does that mean they have one-eyed, toothless, cousin fornicating tendencies themselves?

Once you realize that Lib objections to this execution is all about the Libs themselves and their own delusions about their self-image, the angst over this case becomes easier to understand. People do not like to have their protective fantasies punctured, and this case has done just that.
