Bush Asked To Explain UK War Memo
CNN ^ | 5/12/05 | n/a

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Eighty-nine Democratic members of the U.S. Congress last week sent President George W. Bush a letter asking for explanation of a secret British memo that said "intelligence and facts were being fixed" to support the Iraq war in mid-2002. The timing of the memo was well before the president brought the issue to Congress for approval. The Times of London newspaper published the memo -- actually minutes of a high-level meeting on Iraq held July 23, 2002 -- on May 1. British officials did not dispute the document's authenticity, and Michael Boyce, then Britain's Chief of Defense Staff, told the paper that Britain had not then made a decision to follow the United States to war, but it would have been "irresponsible" not to prepare for the possibility. ...

I thought this was shown to be a forgery, but I guess not. There is this thread, "Forged Iraq Memo To Blair", about a fake memo, but apparently it's different. Does anyone know for sure?

The Dems are grasping at straws, trying to exploit semantics. Everyone south of the Mason Dixon line knows that fix means "to correct".

I would also like to know about Clinton's fund raising and relations with the Chinese.

How about releasing Kerry's form 180 and if Pres. Carter and Senator Warner who I believe was Sec Nav then, cleared his record or Pardoned him. Should he be allowed to hold an elected office.

Why wasn't Jane Fonda tried for Treason??

Why has all of this been kept from the American people?

I don't know, but it sounds like the British are trying to get Blair in the same way that a lot of Americans want to get Bush....even if they have to make stuff up, or keep going over the same points over and over

I think Levin is still going around telling people that Bush SAID that Saddam Hussein had direct ties to 9/11! He thinks that if he says it often enough and long enough, it will become true, I guess....

The thing is, the fact that not just America and the UK were convinced of the danger that Saddam posed and that there WERE stockpiles of WMD (I still think they are around somewhere) and even Putin said that Saddam was a thread to America...

BUT, I am sure this Memo will be blown way out of porportion....

No.
But I do think that the MSM and their democrat running buddies have a plan to extract revenge on this administration any way they can because they're still pissed that their traitor Kerry LOST. And they don't care if America loses in the process. Never underestimate the viciousness of a sore loser.

thanks.

My question is whether this memo is the same that was proved a forgery?

The crazy thing is that the British public really are not that bothered. We are more concerned about the EU and mass immigration. If Blair was selective with the facts it should not be so much a of a surprise. Not only is he a politician but he is also a lawyer and at the end of the day Saddam had had it coming for DECADES. He killed millions of his own people while he built himself palaces, what more do you need to know?

The UK has so many more things to worry about than this crap. I wish the MSM would concentrate on the Social Security pyramid scheme and the soveriegnty grasping of the EU.

There is an increasingly strong anti-EU movement over here but the main parties are too afraid to commit to taking a stand. Politicians can be such fools sometimes. We need to make the big decisions now, not in ten years time. They need to sort out the EU, immigration, social security and our Energy problems NOW.

"intelligence and facts were being fixed" to support the Iraq war in mid-2002

So they "fixed" the report, glad they fixed it before releasing the information.

I frankly don't care whether "the facts" were "fixed" or fixed, or true or false, or exaggerated or overblown.

Because the actual fact is that Saddam was sitting on top of the world's second largest oil reserve, which happens to be the property of Western economies despite the unfortunate accident of geography.

That alone justifies our actions.

Taking position in Iraq also will provide needed staging for our next foray, which hopefully will be against the venal and corrupt (and terrorist-backing and Wahhabi) House Of Saud.

The West needed Iraq, and we needed the oil, and so we took it. Just as we will take the rest of the Middle East and whatever else ensures the continuance of Western society.

End of discussion.

Gee, no bias there I guess.........

You are not being serious I hope.

Absolutely dead serious. Hardcore realpolitik.

You think Saddam owns the oil? King Fahd? Prince Abdullah?

Why? By what right?
