Russian MFA Information and Press Department Commentary Regarding the Anti-Russian Agitation of the "Law and Justice" Political Party in Poland

1043-12-05-2005

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has taken notice of the pre-election political advertisement of the Law and Justice Party that was shown on May 5 on TVP1, a state-owned national television channel. As a rule, Moscow does not comment upon cinema products of this kind. What perturbs us, though, is that it is wholly aimed at undermining Russian-Polish relations and fomenting a negative attitude towards Russia and the peoples living in it.

We expect that such anti-Russian agitation will not receive support in Polish society, which has always stood for the development of relations between our countries.

Well, they still see soviet vampirial dreams in their sleep. Nothing but shock therapy could cure this disease. The reality is going to administer these shocks, and is already doing so (falling demographics, to begin with). What one sees essentially are manifestations of textbook civilizational inferiority complex in the form of adolescent petulance. (cf. Mark Steyn's article [www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1399019/posts]).

My God, but this is really insane!

I'd understand, if they commented some statement given by Polish authorities. But a single political party, even an important one?

So what the Polish government is supposed to do know about it?? Ban it?

This is not the country. No the time. NOT THE WORLD!

Relax, such statements are typical for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia. They are provocateurs, firstly they are making some controversial comments and when other country answering too impulsively then they are sending similar message as above. They are surprised, saddened and they are pretending that they don’t know what is going on.

I think that we should not answer for such notes, because they want involve us in some endless and stupid diplomatic loops. Kremlin is trying this tactic with most of their neighbor states. I’m watching closely situation in Georgia and it is much worse, I read interview with Gergian Foreign Minister and she said that they rarely answering for such strange diplomatic notes because they have more important things to do than childish conversations.

As you well know this party is going to participate in ruling Poland for the next 4 years. And thanks to Russian MF pro Polish policy (caring for so much for good relations and such;) they are leaders of the polls at the moment. And I would bet they will take Foreign Affairs Ministry in Autumn...

This almost reminds me of a brief episode I had with 3 other Irish-American Catholic U.S. Marine Officer roommates. (Funny isn't it? Four Marine Officers all Irish-American and Catholic...guess where all the beer ended up at the end of a Company party?)

The not-so-funny thing is that the other 3 were very pro-abortion. I'm very pro-life. It was a little disappointing when the 3 of them tried to convince me, all at the same time, that a woman has the right to murder her unborn child. I wasn't intimidated since I considered myself the more psychotic of the fire team (and I was clearly the best rifle and pistol shot).

My pro-life stance did not change. I prayed for them. I think I even offered a Mass Intention for them. That reminds me, I may just get another Mass Intention for them just for good measure. (and if any of them are reading this...you can buy me a beer in return, LOL!).

Hmmm, I'd bet a Polish Zlotych to a Russian Rubel that Poland has the more fanatical fighters...and better marksmen. Those poor Ruskies are heavily outmatched. It's probably better that you offer a Mass Intention for them instead. They won't know what hit them!

Yeah, just like Ted Kennedy. It's very disappointing.

That's why they need prayers!

So if Zherinovsky's party started running ads that made Poles out to be a low form of life, Poland should not comment but just bare it and grin? Or maybe if he advertised that his party would be for invading or other wise blockading Poland?

Nothing but shock therapy could cure this disease.

Yeah, they already got that, it was called 8 years of Yeltsin. But they made it through alive and as a nation, so you would prescribe more, I'm sure.

So they are as much Catholic, as I'm - let's say, I don't know - a Buddist maybe?

No, they have to react. PiS (Law and Justice) are going to far. They even named a square (rondo) in Warsaw after some Chechen insurgent. For PiS the main points are building the huge prison industry and bashing Russia.

Good you've raised this comparison, because I was going to do so.
He's done many times something like that.
And I've never seen any official comment issued by Polish MFA, or President, or any other authorities.

"So they are as much Catholic, as I'm - let's say, I don't know - a Buddist maybe?"

And too, a Buddhist is called to a Life of Christ like any and all of us. The responsibility, though, weighs heavier upon those who should know better than to murder the unborn (and there is argument over abortion among Buddhists).

John 19:10-11

10
So Pilate said to him, "Do you not speak to me? Do you not know that I have power to release you and I have power to crucify you?"
11
Jesus answered (him), "You would have no power over me if it had not been given to you from above. For this reason the one who handed me over to you has the greater sin."

Well in that case, Poland should have. It's their absolute right to raise a complaint, just like it is Russia's. Sitting by quietly while radical positions are being pushed by legitimate political parties on your border is plain dumb. We have the past 80 years of history to show us that.

No, no, a Buddhist was just an example.

I'm just not a Buddhist and will never be one - just like people who have views, like those you described are not Catholics in fact, even if they call themselves this way.

And what after raising such a complaint?
What a government can do about it in a democratic country? Especially during election campaign, which has just started in Poland?

Give me a break - it was just another provocation by the Russian authorities - to keep straining Polish - Russian relations. I don't really know what they're playing, but I'm getting really worried where it's going to lead us.

LOL, I know that you're not a Buddhist.

The point I was making is that there are "Catholics" near and dear to me that aren't following the Catholic Faith per the teachings of the Church. Sometimes they are my peers. Sometimes they are my boss. I do get a little uncomfortable about their proximity and power, but it's Faith and prayer that keep me from despair.

These "Catholics" (in name only) have tried to used their position, power, and even friendship to alter my relationship with Christ. That hurts me, but I use the pain to pray for them. It's an effort because I know that I'm very weak. Pope John Paul #2 has been my inspiration against human respect (may he rest in peace).
