The campaign against John R. Boltons nomination to be the U.S. ambassador to the United Nations is about far more than his reputedly abrasive personality behind the smears lies a pro-Castro agenda.
The criticism of Bolton by Democratic Sen. Christopher Dodd and his aide Janice OConnell is "based on taking issue with his accusations that Castro is building a biological warfare capability," writes columnist Robert D. Novak.
And the effectiveness of OConnell - the veteran Democratic staff expert on Western Hemisphere affairs in making life difficult for enemies of Fidel Castro is "legendary, according to Novak.
"She was largely responsible for blocking confirmation of Bushs 2001 nomination of [Otto] Reich as assistant secretary of state for Western Hemisphere affairs."
The anti-Bolton campaign suffered a setback when former CIA deputy director of intelligence Jamie Miscik appeared at a Senate Foreign Relations Committee hearing into the nomination and backed away from testifying that harassment from Bolton had "damaged" National Intelligence Officer Fulton Armstrong.
Otto Reich also testified. And Novak writes: "Whatever damage Bolton did to Armstrong professionally could not even compare with Reich testifying that the analysts work was considered substandard throughout the national security bureaucracy.
"That fits complaints I have heard from Reagan administration officials about Armstrongs left-wing bias on Western Hemisphere questions in general, but particularly on Cuba.
"Cuba is the them that runs through the ordeal of John Bolton."
Even the Washington Post has acknowledged that the campaign against Boltons nomination is sputtering.
The paper says that while the investigation of Boltons performance has turned up numerous examples of "fierce policy disputes" between Bolton and lower-level officials, "no additional direct evidence of abusive behavior toward subordinates has emerged."
Too bad Dick Lugar wimped out a couple weeks ago. Bolton would be lighting a fire under Kofi's brass butt right now.
What is this country's fascination and loyalty to Castro about?
And why would Bolton's treatment of subordinates or his losing temper matter when the former first lady now senator of New York can through lamps and ashtrays, call a fellow politican (whom, incidently she treated as a subordinate) a Jew bastar*?
Friggin double standards amount to no standards for the Democratic party. Their partisanship (against the conservative cause and against democracy in this country) is so obvious.
Actually, it was "f*cking Jew b*stard." Perhaps you wanted to spare us from the full vulgarity; I don't blame you.
I agree, the entire issue regarding bolton's "temper" is ridiculous.
When someone is partisan on behalf of a self-avowed enemy of the US like Castro, I think treason and treasonous are more accurate words.
...wonder why Ted is doing the finger-sniffing thing. That pic is worthy of it's own "Caption this" thread.

I happen to agree - at some point in my life I realized that we have a communist party in the U.S. - it just happens to be called the democratic party. Once you realize that, as repugnant as these revelations are, at least they make "sense", if you can even dignify it with that.
I was thinking he was finger licking...and I was wondering into what he was finger dipping.
I too, have made this observation, and have actually referred to them as such. Much like an insurgent IS a terrorist, humiliation IS not torture, undocumented worker IS an illegal invader, a demonRAT IS a communist, etc.
LOL!
Could you post a pics of Rather and Saddam Hussein? Dan Rather & Saddam Hussein - Best Friends.
Is this really that much of a surprise? Dodd has always been stumping for Commies for well over 20 years.
