The Washington Post - GOP Seeks More Curbs On Courts
The Washington Post ^ | May 12, 2005 | Mike Allen

With conservative anger at the judiciary peaking, House Republican leaders plan to use budgetary, oversight and disciplinary authority to assert greater control over the federal courts before next year's elections.

The Constitution specifies that Congress will set the jurisdiction and budgets of the courts, and Republican lawmakers began agitating to exercise that power after Schiavo's death. DeLay drew wide attention to the issue by declaring that the judges involved in that case would have to "answer for their behavior." As a guide to his views on the subject, DeLay has been urging reporters to read "Men in Black: How the Supreme Court Is Destroying America," by Mark R. Levin.

This is what I've been saying would happen. Checks and balances are beginning to churn.

Judges are way out of control. This vampire needs a take through the heart.

The most egregious violation is that of judges shoving gay marraige down the throats of its citizens without a vote and the overturning of legal laws won through voting on state propositions.

A little testicular fortitude from Congress?....

We'll see how long this lasts. For what it's worth, "Go Tom!"

This is such bullsh@t. The Schiavo case proves how the GOP doesn't want to actively fight the courts.

Why is this BS? Because all a court has to do is declare the defunding unconstitutional! The GOP isn't willing to fight such blatant unconstitutional ruling!

All the GOP would do is take the matter through the court system and allow the Supreme Court to make the final decision. If the SC says it's constitutional, the GOP will buckle and claim thier hands are tied by a court order!

The proof is in the pudding on a State level (FL, Terri Sciavo) or on the Federal level (Sciavo, contempt of congress), what makes you think they are gonna find such a ruling as being ludicrous?

Smoke and mirrors folks. The GOP is more interested in your vote than actually solving the problem...

(For how they failed in Florida, google Article I Section II of the FL Constitution and you'll have a clue.)
