if Bush loses this vote, he will be called a lame duck from now on and that's what the Democrats want.
There is definitely a 'behind closed doors' struggle going on with the Pubbies. Lott is working to wrangle himself back into position to be majority leader. Apparently, There is allot of backstabbing is going on, and the GOP is more fractured than we see in public. That could explain Lugar's allowing this committee to extend weeks beyond what it was supposed to -- they were supposed to vote 2 weeks ago. That would also explain why Frist is having such a difficult time in pulling the trigger on the judicial filibusters. The GOP may be splintering.
If that is true, all the Dems have to do is wait (and obstruct), and they can retake the Senate and White House by '08.

I know what you are saying about the Pubbies backstabbing these days---
Yesterday on the senate floor, there were 2-3 senators critisizing each other about their bills and amendments--they were REpublicans calling each other names....I bet the dems were just sitting back and counting RINO votes against the nuclear option...
THE GOP wing of the senate is falling apart or being torn apart in a tug-o-war!
