ON CAPITOL HILL Bolton Vote in Committee The Senate Foreign Relations Committee conducts a debate and vote on the nomination of John Bolton as U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations. Chair Richard Lugar (R-IN) and Ranking Member Joseph Biden (D-DE) continue a review of the nominee, based on issues raised at the committee's April 19 business meeting. 10AM-3:30PM ET ON C-SPAN3
They are going to run this debate like they do in the Senate.
The Dems will get 2 1/2 hours and the Reps will get 2 1/2 hours with Lugar handling reps, and Biden calling on dems.
Rep 1 hours, then dems 1 hour, etc. No other motions or subjects will be allowed.
Biden is already correcting Lugar and wanting to change things---Bidens wants to speak right after Lugar instead of following the rules that Lugar set forth....
Lugar telling Biden that he wants to keep HIS schedule, that he will speak and then Voinivich...wants that...
Biden saying he doesn't want to bog people down in regulations, but he wants it to be noted that this is NOT the way it is done on the floor and wants it noted that if Biden is ever CHairman again, HE might make up his own rules also. So, Biden is already picking fights over minutiae---he also said he would be more mad except that Voinivich is speaking second? Curious.....
Not sure
I didn't catch Vonivich's name .. just heard something about the time being split between the Dems and the Pubbies
Thanks for this thread. I'm cubicle-bound today so am looking forward to all the fun.
That's a good sign...he was the Dems' "hero" two weeks ago..now he will strongly endorse Bolton..Coleman was really good on the Senate floor..now McConnell is taking no prisoners..
Voinovich gets an hour?
That should give him sufficient time to tell us where the he!! he's been when these hearings have taken place.
I don't even have C-Span3, what a crock.
I've been looking forward to watching this. Thought it would be on c-span or c-span2. Drat!
My pot roast is in the slow cooker for supper. House work is done(laundry can wait). I'll be here for the five hours. This will be quiet interesting. :-)
Lugar is going over Bolton's history right now--highlighting his history.
Morning Sleuth. Good to see you here. :-)
Wow...judicial debate on one channel and Bolton debate on another.
Maybe this will be a good day.
I may need anger management myself when this is over.
I noticed on c-span 2 that they will be introducing new bills today---
Could be interesting because I read last night that McCain and Kennedy are supposed to introduce a bill about immigration and border control today....watch for THAT.
A bill co-sponsored by McCain and Kennedy oughta be a lollapalooza!

Thanks for the commentary. I'm reading for the moment, just can't decide if I have the fortitude for 5 HOURS of this crap.
Glad to see you---this better be good, if you know what I mean!!!
Lugar has stated that he has not done ANYTHING unethical to deny him this nomination.
Then he highlighted how Bolton helped with the talks with Libya on coming clean on nuclear material.
I've been considering beating up a liberal for some time now. Heh!
I actually expect this to be noisily interesting...
Lugar is bring up the OFF scandal at the UN
