BRIDGEPORT, Conn. (AP) May 11,2005
A lawsuit aimed at blocking the Friday morning execution of serial killer Michael Ross has been filed in Bridgeport federal court.
The lawsuit, filed on behalf of an inmate in the state prison in Newtown, claims Ross' voluntary execution will set off suicided among other prison inmates.
The lawsuit, filed by attorney Antonio Ponvert (PAHN'-vehr), claims Ross' execution is like to cause what is known as "suicide contagion" among suicide prone state prison inmates.
The lawsuit was filed on behalf of a state prison inmate, Duane Ziemba, who is imprisoned at the Garner Correctional center.
Ponvert is asking the federal court to issue a restraining order as well as a permanent injunction against the Ross execution.
This is so over the top.
Easy enough to find out if the lawyer is on to something.
Execute Ross and wait and see what happens.
This lawsuit is the latest in a long line of frivolous ones filed by idiots. I don't think it has a chance in hell of going anywhere.
Ross murdered my freshman college roommate, Dzung Tu. She was his first victim. If the execution goes forward, Dzung's brother and I will be at the prison tonight.
I say let's test this theory immediately! Execute him and give ropes to all prison inmates. Hopefully many will take the hint and suicide thereby lessening the cost in keeping them in prison.
Yeah! It works for me!
The world seems to be going mad, piece by piece:
Starve an innocent, brain-damaged woman to death, but worry about a serial killer's ability to know right from wrong, making him incompetent to ask for his own execution.
We already know he doesn't know right from wrong :HE'S A SERIAL KILLER!.
Additionally, one of the anti-death penalty leaders in CT compared the criminals awaiting execution to the inmates of Nazi Death Camps the other day:
"So many people have asked me, 'Why are you doing this for Michael Ross?' " said Robert Nave, executive director of the Connecticut Network to Abolish the Death Penalty, who is leading the effort. "We're not doing this for Michael Ross. We're doing this because it is state-sponsored homicide."
I wonder if he is as worried about the real victims of American "Death Camps": the million of aborted children that have been executed since Roe v. Wade was made a law.
Here's a good link relating to this case:
So sorry to hear. God be with you. We will try and give you strenth.
Executing a murderer will set off a wave of suicides amongst the other criminals? Where is the downside? I'm not seeing it. There isn't one. So warm up the chair for Ross.
Thanks for your kind words.
The whole thing is just very very sad.
Let's buy them some ICP music.

Pass the popcorn....
oph yeah. one of my daughter's friends was sitting around and they were talking about their boyfriends. Since they were seated right next to me, talking like normal teenagers, I couldnt' help but hear some of the conversation.
seems that the girl's bf was a rabit ICP fan. She was talking about his "ICP-ness" , when I thought I heard something untoward. think about it.
the explanation was just as funny as the snippet I heard.
You watch.
At the last minute this beast will stop his own execution by claiming he has changed his mind.
He's probably doing all this to get attention and to cause the families of his victims more cruel grief.
A twofer huh ? Thats great !
I have the solution. We'll make suicide illegal. Then, if these guys commit it, they're going to be in big trouble and probably won't make parole.
Why they don't put a smart guy like me in charge of this stuff I just don't know...
CT finally had the fortitude to take out the garbage.
I was astounded when I heard the news this morning.
Would Dzung Tu have been 49 this year?
Prayers for all of you.
Yes, Dzung would be 49 this year. Just got back to NYC an hour ago from Connecticut.I went up with Lan last night to the prison. Lan could not witness the execution, but he was in a room very close by. He made a great witness statement once it was all over.
We both felt a sense of relief last night, but I noticed this morning that Lan looked much more sad than last night. I think it's going to be a rollercoaster for him, and me too.
It was bizarre to be at the prison. I was standing by the media holding place, where the reporters were all laughing and jabbering. But at 2:01 am, the time when the execution was to take place the room went dead silent. Between that time and 2:25 when the warden announced that he was dead, it was surreal . For me, the best part of the evening was seeing Lan get to meet the families of the other victims and also the two detectives who cracked the case. I was nervous about going up but I am glad I did because Lan should not have been there by himself. I think Dzung would have been glad to know we were there.
