The news seemed odd: Cottage Grove Police Chief John Mickelson crashed his Ford Explorer in Lakeville in the middle of the night, left the scene and didn't meet with law enforcement officers until half a day later.
Yet Mickelson's attorney maintains the chief needed medical help and was justified in going to the hospital before meeting in person with investigators.
sure he needed 'medical help'. it's called 'detoxification'.
I'd like to see this excuse work for a civie in Cottage Grove.
we have a local judge who is always DUI but like any cop in town would dare to give him a ticket
I think this chief is practicing for the Fat Teddy Olympics
(drink,drive, and swim)
If nobody was hurt or injured, charge him with littering (car in the lake), give him a fine equal to the value of the car, plus the cost of removing it from the lake, and leave it at that.
The fine and the ridicule should be sufficient for what is essentially a victimless crime. ($20k fine should be enough to sober up most people)
Darn,I wanted to be first with the ted kenndy link,at least this chief didn't leave a woman to drown.
Yes Fat Ted established a precedent for actions like these and anyway the Chief didnt drown anyone.
