House Speaker Dennis Hastert who will talk with Tony about what the house is doing to help you keep more of your money as well as how they’re keeping the economy humming.

Saying that there has been enough talk and it’s time for the Senate to get down to business, Senator Sam Brownback, one of the rising stars in the Republican party will be interviewed.

Hastert up. Tony brings up the travel reports situation. Says there's been talk on capital hill that since both sides have been doing it, an amnesty program should be put forth.

Hastert says trips should be used with permission and using standard procedures. Need clearance which wasn't always available before. Tony reads letter from Jeff Trendall (sp). Saying he "inadvertently forgot to file a travel report". Red-faced, hence the request for amnesty program.

Hastert says mechanism needs to be developed for approval of travel. Says critters travel shouldn't be restricted as long as they are out talking to people, learning about situations not just being wined and dined.

Hastert says Delay is a lightening rod and is easy for people to pile on him. Delay thought the trips had been approved, but found it they weren't. Tony asks what will come of the investigation into the majority leader.

Hastert says the RATS have tried to block the issue in ethics committee and Delay needs to be able to answer the charges. Says both sides of the aisle would have people who did the same thing.

Apparently Nancy Pelosi was miffed that Hastert put forth this idea of pre-aurhotized travel without inviting Nancy in on the plan. Haaaa!

Discussion on Rahm Emmanual and taxes coming up with Hastert after break.

"I'm sure Rahm will have an opportunity to go before the Ethics Committee," Hastert says. That's pretty big news, coming from the Speaker of the House.

Hastert assures he will talk with Nancy P.

Just as soon as he meets with the ethics committee first, LOL!

Switching to the Emmanual story. Hastert says RAhm is being duplicitous in taking on a reform issue and still being in the headlines. Hastert says the Rahm election was won by 1100 votes and since the whole city organization was working for him, that could skew the election. Hastert says Chicago has history of corruption in city politics. (Tell me about it!!)

Tony asks if Rahm should step aside. Rats will charge Pubs are dirty as can be, in the pockets of big biz etc. Hastert says look at what the Pubs have been able to accomplish, and the RATS can only sling mud, have no new ideas. Seen in the house and senate the "just say NO" policy from the RATS.

Tony asks about the economy rebound and tax cuts. Hastert has been on record to get rid of income tax, possibly a national sales tax. Tony asks if Pres needs to stay on offensive when it comes to cutting taxes. Hastert says many of tax cuts need to be made permanent.

Tony asks if Hastert thinks the show down over judges is a show down whether the Pres can maintain control over Pubs in Senate? Hastert says it's a showdown as to whether President can get up or down votes on his nominees.

What do you say to troublesome members of house caucus? Hastert says sometimes you cajole, get down on your knees, sometimes a coach, sometimes a mother saying "knock off the nonsense". SAys Pres needs to use the bully pulpit with the Senators. Public doesn't want to see gridlock.

Interveiw over.

Tony said it was an honor to talk to the distinguished Speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives. Yep, the interview with Speaker Hastert was very impressive.

Ted Kennedy is a Socialist

That he is, and Tony wasn't sorry to have "popped a cork" about the hypocrisy (another Ted Kennedy pun?)

Senator Brownback on now, he's a solid conservative from Kansas. Brownback says nobody is going to get thrown under the bus. It might get to the point where they will "have to change the rules".
