Dennis Hastert is one of the BEST House Speakers in history.
Yes he is... who'dathunkit
"I'm sure Rahm will have an opportunity to go before the Ethics Committee," Hastert says. That's pretty big news, coming from the Speaker of the House.
Hastert assures he will talk with Nancy P.
Just as soon as he meets with the ethics committee first, LOL!
Switching to the Emmanual story. Hastert says RAhm is being duplicitous in taking on a reform issue and still being in the headlines. Hastert says the Rahm election was won by 1100 votes and since the whole city organization was working for him, that could skew the election. Hastert says Chicago has history of corruption in city politics. (Tell me about it!!)
Tony asks if Rahm should step aside. Rats will charge Pubs are dirty as can be, in the pockets of big biz etc. Hastert says look at what the Pubs have been able to accomplish, and the RATS can only sling mud, have no new ideas. Seen in the house and senate the "just say NO" policy from the RATS.
Tony asks about the economy rebound and tax cuts. Hastert has been on record to get rid of income tax, possibly a national sales tax. Tony asks if Pres needs to stay on offensive when it comes to cutting taxes. Hastert says many of tax cuts need to be made permanent.
Tony asks if Hastert thinks the show down over judges is a show down whether the Pres can maintain control over Pubs in Senate? Hastert says it's a showdown as to whether President can get up or down votes on his nominees.
What do you say to troublesome members of house caucus? Hastert says sometimes you cajole, get down on your knees, sometimes a coach, sometimes a mother saying "knock off the nonsense". SAys Pres needs to use the bully pulpit with the Senators. Public doesn't want to see gridlock.
Interveiw over.
