Last month, the California Conference NAACP made public their October 2004 vote to support Assemblyman Mark Leno's Gay Marriage Bill (AB 19). No one doubts that the vast majority of Blacks strongly oppose this drive to redefine marriage. So why has this once-venerable organization climbed on the bandwagon?
The simple truth is that the individuals currently at the helm of Californias NAACP believe they know whats good for Blacks, even if Blacks dont know it for themselves. In an Associated Press article, California NAACP President Alice Huffman shared why she feels comfortable using the NAACP to undercut the communitys values.
[Gay marriage] is really an issue that is not clearly understood by many segments of my community, especially the fundamentalists, said Huffman, adding that despite lingering opposition among some NAACP members, the organization would testify for Leno's bill and lobby lawmakers, if necessary.

NAACP is one of the organizations now attempting to keep blacks on the plantation.
Great move, that...
I think the following shows what really is going on:
"This problem runs deeper than the current attempts to redefine marriage. There was a time when the NAACP was wholeheartedly focused on fighting for Blacksour rights, our education, our advancement. But recently it has become increasingly clear that the interests of the Black community are not the primary concern of the NAACP. Rather, the agenda of the Democratic Party, including its most liberal elements, now dictate the NAACPs agenda.
One only need scratch the surface to see the blind devotion to Democrat Party politics held by many NAACP leaders. Consider NAACPs current President, Alice Huffman. Even while holding her office with the California NAACPa supposed non-partisan organizationHuffman been an appointee of Democrat Governor Gray Davis, an employee of then-Democrat Speaker of the Assembly Herb Wesson, and Co-Chair for the Democratic National Convention."
I'm not even sure why there is a NAACP. Blacks are no longer the minority! In my school district 58% of students are black. Everything lately has become a white/black issue. Things are not always a race issue, but the NAACP makes it out to be one. A local cop was killed in MO last week by a black guy. What do you know, the black community are turning against the cops saying he was probably harassing the black guy anyway. I am so disgusted that companies have to hire a certain amount of black people. It should be about working together and not making any one race 'protected'. Aren't we all in the same country? We have a war overseas, we don't need another one here.
