TBILISI, Georgia - A device, possibly a hand grenade, was thrown toward the stage on which President Bush addressed 300,000 cheering Georgians on Tuesday, but it was not discovered until after the president's appearance, NBC News has learned.

It was the only incident to mar what had been a triumphal appearance by the president in the former Soviet republic, where he said Georgia to the world that determined people can rise up and claim their freedom from oppressive rulers.

I call BS on this story. I am placing my bets on someone in the media being unhappy with how well-received President Bush was in Georgia.

the Secret Service was informed by Georgian authorities of a report that a device, possibly a hand grenade, had been thrown within 100 feet of the stage during Bush's speech, hit someone in the crowd and fell to the ground,

OK, a "report" of a "device" by an "authority". I wonder if we could get any more vague.

Apparently, it didn't go off, or somebody would have noticed.

God's blessings on our president!

Other than this it seems the people of Georgia are really pleased to have our president visit. They gave him the warmth and applause he much deserved when he spoke today.

Let me see...A report, of something flying through the air, in a crowd of 300,000!!!! freedom loving Georgians, hits someone approx. 100ft from President Bush. My guess (which is as good as the guess of the MSM) is that the people were excited, and someone threw a cup or something in standard mosh-pit enthusiasm.

I almost feel like calling BS right behind you on this. First reports were that it was a grenade that somehow didn't go off, and now it is a "possible explosive device"?
