I have a theory: Dogs are pack oriented, socially, and tend to acknowledge the alpha male in their pack.

That's certainly logical. However, GWB clearly adores dogs, and they adore him back.

I have a story that supports the "leader of the pack" theory. A friend of mine has 2 daughters and he always used to take their dog for his last walk and they used to exercise him during the day.

One night he was walking the dog and a yob approached him the dog growled and immediately step behind my friend almost as if he was saying you are old enough and ugly enough to look after yourself and me.

A couple of days later the girls were out with the dog and again a local yob appeared this time the dog went on the attack pulling on his lead and barking like mad at the lad prooving that there definitely something in the leader of the pack theory.
