No One Hurt Secret Service Says Device Did Not Go Off
May 10, 2005 -- A grenade was thrown within 100 feet of the stage where President Bush was giving a speech today in the former Soviet republic of Georgia, local authorities told the U.S. Secret Service.
The device did not go off and no one was hurt, the Secret Service said. Local police told the Secret Service the device was thrown as Bush spoke in Freedom Square in Tblisi, the Georgian capital. The device hit someone and fell to the ground about 100 feet away from the stage, the Secret Service said.
The Secret Service said it was unaware of any disturbance until it was informed of the incident by Georgian police.

It looks like the Dems still have not gotten over Kerry's loss.
Scum.

The Secret Service said it was unaware of any disturbance until it was informed of the incident by Georgian police. Dud grenade? hmmmm OR is this press release trying to make it look like the people of the area didn't like Bush?

NBC News led with this, then did a nice piece on W's "feeding" on the up-swell of democracy in Georgia. The story they reported was the Secret Service wasn't told about the grenade until two hours after Bush had left the country. No one on the US team had seen the grenade, but supposedly the pin had been pulled.

I have a picture of Dan Rather carrying a suspicious object in the area just prior to this. Sure, it's obviously a photoshopped fake, but the content is accurate. Dan needs to answer the questions this picture raises.

It sounds more like a dud news story. I doubt that anyone can get that close with anything, much less a relatively bulky object like a grenade.

I'll bet it was Clinton (one of them). Does anyone know if they were in Georgia?

The press probably set the whole thing up.Wouldn't surprise me...I'm sure they're looking for anything to detract from the huge, enthusiastic crowd President Bush drew at his appearance..

I don't blame him - what with all the comparisons to Hitler and all. You think some people aren't smart enough to understand the overreaching hatred of our liberal media?
