Jennifer Wilbanks, the runaway bride whose disappearance triggered a nationwide search, has entered a voluntary medical treatment program.
According to a statement from the family's church, "Ms. Wilbanks entered a highly regarded, inpatient treatment program on her own volition to address physical and mental issues which, she believes, played a major role in her 'running from herself' as she described in a public statement last week."
Wilbanks entered the program late Monday. The location of the program and suggested duration of treatment was not disclosed.
Wilbanks was already undergoing professional treatment. On May 5, the pastor for the Wilbanks family, Dr. Tom Smiley, read a statement from Jennifer Wilbanks. In the statement, Wilbanks said she, "started professional treatment voluntarily," for the problems that led her to run away.
Dr. Smiley said the treatment was "professional therapy with certified, competent professionals." Smiley did not go into details about the treatment.
Wilbanks, 32, touched off an extensive search in April when she disappeared after leaving her Duluth, Ga., home for a jog just four days before her scheduled wedding.
Wilbanks turned up in Albuquerque, New Mexico. She told police she had been abducted, but she later told authorities she took a bus to Las Vegas and then Albuquerque on her own.
We'd say she's "barmy" or a "nutter". "Stark raving mad" is another expression that springs to mind.
One transatlantic expression is to simply call her a loony.

Oh Jeez, I hadn't even thought of that nighmare...but maybe if we don't talk about the "bad thing, the bad thing won't happen"!!
Ah, Winona Ryder. I'd forgotten about her. I'm not sure if I should thank you for reminding me of her existence.

What's the other two arrests for?
The problem is that some freepers have taken a page from DU and are acting accordingly.
>Her father.<
Her father has made no such statements. There are unconfirmed reports in the NY Post (theirs a reliable source)that she broke a prevoius engagement.
>And being that she spent over $100,000 of the publics money on her charade<
I am glad you know the amount since the Mayor of Duluth has pegged it at $60,000 and that number is probably exaggerated.
Thank you very much!
I can't keep up with her:
"Update:
She's been arrest FIVE times, three reportedly for shoplifting."
I knew someone like that too, in college. Only in her case, her thyroid was failing completely, not being over-active. One day she was perfectly the normal; the next day at dinner she was raving like a lunatic, convinced that her professors were conspiring against her, all the girls in her classes were lesbians who wanted to seduce her, and saying the most random, incoherent things like "it's OK that I'm telling you this because there are 3 of us at this table. But if there were 5, that would be scrupulous." It was very frightning. I had no idea what was going on - she was a very conservative and devout Catholic, so drug use didn't seem likely. Fortunately she went to the hospital in time, because she actually came very close to death. She had to withdraw from college completely to recover her health and I don't know what happened to her after that.
For all you reading this, if you ever notice a friend or acquaintance acting in such a bizarre manner for no apparent reason at all - please get them to a hospital right away. It could mean the difference between life and death.
>This woman is getting a lot of bad advice from a lot of people -- family, lawyers, pastor included.<
What bad advice?
It's not been reported, as yet.
What "physical and mental issues" would require inpatient treatment?
The Duluth money does not include the money spent in NM, where she also filed a false rape charge. Which she should also be prosecuted for. And harshly.
Hey I thought you left the forum?
The woman should be made to face the music....all we have is some lawyered up statement from her...she oughta get out there, make a public apology, restitution and maybe do some jail time. Sounds to me like she's some spoiled, irresponsible brat who needs some consequences for her action.
A cover-up to avoid possible criminal charges.
Remember Mark Hacking?
Maybe to hide her possible abortion she had in Vegas? Only her gynecologist knows for sure...
