Tony Snow just finished an interview with Trent Lott. Senator Lott wanted to respond to an article in Roll Call to the effect that he had crafted a deal to dump certain judges to guarantee others an up-or-down vote on the Senate floor. According to an account (I didn't hear the interview), Lott called the report "exaggerated," adding that he has worked with Ben Nelson "from time to time" on a deal, but that the proposed deal "isn't much of a deal at all." Lott also stated that he won't accept criticism from Republicans for working with Democratic senators because "they're the same ones who threw me overboard. I'm free. I don't have to work with them anymore." Lott called the Senate a "dysfunctional institution." Lott may consider himself part of the solution to this problem, but in the context of the confirmation battles that remains to be seen.
Call Lott now and tell him we WILL throw him overboard in the next election.

Lott was a Rat to begin with, maybe he'd feel better off back at "home."
Showing once again that he doesn't have the brains to mop the Senate floor, let alone be Majority Leader.
Trent, they threw you down in steerage. But keep it up and you'll find out what it really means to be thrown overboard.
Well, I guess he doesn't care that much about the current BRAC and those military installations in Mississippi after all.
Where's Preston Brooks when we need him?
as bad as i dont want to admit it
hes got a point
the pubbies did nothing to help him in his time of need
Feel free to follow the tracks of Jumpin' Jim Jeffords, and try not to let the boots of the Mississippi voters hit you on the way out.
Can you say Senator Pickering ( R-Miss)..either one..the retieewd judge, or his son, the congressman...methinks that Lott may well face a primary challenge..
FYI..ping the group..
Well, it's true, they did throw him overboard.
I don't blame him for being angry. I do blame him for working with Democrats who don't give a damn about whether judges get put on the bench or not. He is being stupid by doing that. Leftist kooks certainly aren't going to vote for him.
And Lott thinks he has a snowballs chance in hell to become majority leader again.
BY The way, this was from "Powerline" but we can't post from "blogs"...This is not my reporting, but Powerline's!
The Gov. of Miss. Haley Barbour will be a good candidate to replace Lott.
In other words, he just admitted what a lot of us felt all along, that he was gonna "payback" the Senators and the President for not keeping him as Majority Leader---
Well, lets see then, we can add him to the LIST with McCain, Collins, Chafee, Snowe, Hagel, Voinivich, Warner,...I am sure I am missing some more Republicans, that would prefer to be stepped on by the dems, than stand up for their own party and, more importantly, THE VOTERS THAT PUT THEM THERE......
They didn't throw him overboard because of his remarks. If you recall right after the 2002 elections and before his idiotic comments, there was much talk of getting a new leader because his leadership was just AWFUL.
Lott is the one who CREATED the disfunction when as majority leader he refused to lead.
Nelson is up in 2006 so he had better tread very carefully. He is the last FL statewide democrat standing.
Correct me here, but my recollection about the Lott incident was that his remarks were blown out of proportion. I found it sickening that he did not stand up for himself and just tell them to get lost. But the real problem with Lott was that he was always making deals with the dems, proving what a good guy he was, such a go along, get along kind of fellow. That's why I was not sorry to see him go.
Crossed my mind. He does have an excuse for being somewhat bitter.
Sounds like things are going to get much worse.
We went from weak spined to spineless, when they dumped Lott for Frist. I can see his point, even though I disagree with his cavorting with the enemy. The fact is Frist is just as useless as Lott was as majority "leader". We need George Allen as the new leader ASAP.
must be thumbtacking that wig on now-a-days
