I'm paraphrasing Ben Franklin:
He who gives up a little liberty to gain a little safety will get neither liberty nor safety.

I wish they taught this kind of history lesson in public schools instead of saturating their brains with sex, diversity and self esteem exercises.

To paraphrase Madison-
Those who confiscate your property will not respect your ideas.
I think that he was correct.

Every single day there are slight erosions to our true liberty. It seems like a one-way street.

Today that would be called Fabian Socialism.

Our children are not being taught such in schools these days or college, for the most part. If a person takes the time to study the writings of T. Jefferson, G. Washington, J. Q. Adams, Ben Franklin, J. Madison, etc., that person would have a much better understanding of the way our government is suppose to work and the true meanings behind our Constitution.
Hell, for that matter, there's a whole slew of federal judges out there that need to read those writings too!
Excellent quote.

Plutarch warned, "The real destroyer of the liberties of the people is he who spreads among them bounties, donations and benefits."
I predict future happiness for Americans if they can prevent the government from wasting the labors of the people under the pretense of taking care of them. - Thomas Jefferson

Today that would be called Fabian Socialism. It is a shame that Marx's teachings appear to be more important to many politicians than those of Madison.

The bigger shame is that those who spout Marx don't understand him.
What was Reagan's quote? - a communist is someone who has read Marx. A capitalist is someone who understands him.

Good point.
"How do you tell a Communist? Well, it's someone who reads Marx and Lenin. And how do you tell an anti-Communist? It's someone who understands Marx and Lenin." Ronald Reagan, First Inaugural Address
