UC Agreement on Judicial Filibuster BY the LEFT !!
Agree totally.
These threads are too confusing to me .. plus my youngtest is having a COMPLETE melt down because I'm throwing out a box she wanted to keep
Here's the main Senate thread
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1399416/posts
quite disheartening , I'll be back after a shower , refresh myself
Did he say that? (Been in the shower.)
I told every Senator I called that I feel sorry for them and any Republican in the '06&'08 elections if a deal with the dims is struck.
LOL. If that should happen, I can well imagine the sky being lit up by exploding conservatives.
They took all the hair from Arlen's head, wove it into a spine, and grafted it to his backbone..
Spector is doing good!!!!
Get the judges to the floor!
BTW, I got hold of Frists' office but not Lotts or Vinovich.
Schumer and Durbin are next to speak!
If the Republicans cut a deal with the RATS on judicial nominees they will be legitimizing the filibuster of judges.
Well put.
I'm at work and can't watch. If it wasn't you saying this, I wouldn't believe it. You are not joshing here, eh?
Arlen just called on Reid to speak publicly, and to explain "extreme"
Specter is talking tough.....excellent!
More or less. He is naming the nominees that at least some DEMs have indicated they would vote to confirm.
He also said that many Senators want to avoid changing the rules so that a simple majority is sufficient to move to the vote on nominees.
ConfirmThem has an update on this morning's "scoop" in Roll Call that reported Trent Lott was masterminding a "deal" to gain cloture on four of the seven nominees who have been blocked. I never believed that Senator Lott would throw Justice Janet Rogers Brown under the bus, nor that other GOPers would sacrifice a prominent African American jurist to the left. I put more stock in the rumor that all seven will be freed by Dems hoping to hang on to the filibuster for use in a Supreme Court battle.
Confirm Them is the blog I was referring to earlier, and has some good stuff, including a list of guesses as to the stances and motivations of the fence-sitters.
I am not convinced that Specter is really gonna make a difference here---he just mentioned that Bush MIGHT consult of federal judges with the Michigan senators and beyond!
That doesn't sound like what the REPS want, it sounds like what the dems want, to me!!!
This is an attempt, but not good enough!!!
He is advocating no change in rules, but selective release of nominees to the Senate floor. Full text to appear in the record, not being recited on the floor.
You must not be watching what I'm watching.
