You are, of course, free to post your opinion, but WTF made you think that this opinion would make me think of you, other than "You are a freaking NUTJOB!"

***

Thank you for informing me that I am entitled to my opinion...as you are entitled to think of me as a "nutjob" or whatever you like. You know, it really doesn't make a difference to me what you think of me. But may I suggest that you stop wasting space on this forum posting insults to me, but rather, post something more pertinent to the topic at hand.

Geese can be obnoxious but good grief! This man is a mental case or a jerk. He needs some strong and rather humiliating punishment. Maybe he should he forced to wear a "Honk if you think I'm a cruel moron" sign at the park, along with a summary of what he did. The geese and park patrons can then scorn him, and someone can set up a rotten vegetable stand nearby. Or else tie his hands behind his back and tape slices of bread to his extremities.

Sandy: Carl I want you to kill all the gophers on the golf course

Carl Spackler: Correct me if I'm wrong Sandy, but if I kill all the golfers they'll lock me up and throw away the key.

Sandy: Not golfers, you great fool! Gophers, rodents!

Carl Spackler: We can do that. We don't even need a reason.

I think legally you have to use a 6 iron on Canadians

I dunno about geese viciousness.

When I very young (5-6 years old), my family used to live near a pond that had ducks and geese. Every week I would go out and feed them bread crumbs by putting the bread in my hand. Never once did I receive a harsh bite.

And there were a LOT of geese at that pond, enough to totally surround me.

Well it seems that there are TWO of us at least that know the 'Possum will not actually attack.

However, it will show it's teeth and make a gawd-awful hiss when it feels threatened. Most people have assumed that the 'possum is going to attack them, and dispatch them right then and there.

But my point was, that most people wouldn't care if he had stomped a 'possum. They are rather ugly and nasty looking, my wife calls them giant rats, and they do resemble that remark.

Yes, but just a 2-iron for their Geese.

Stomping five goslings to death?

The guy is a psychotic disaster waiting to happen. I don't see how you could defend him.

I have one that eats outside with the cats (they just think he's an ugly relative).

'sides, many, if not most animals hiss as a way to show fear or displeasure...

Geez, the azz was not only a wimp but stupid.

Plus 12 months community service and psychiatric counseling.

The psychiatric counseling would probably make him more dependent on the government or more of a threat to actual people. I would give him the option of community service or a hefty fine, assuming he had not violent criminal record.

I once had a summer job at a zoo. One of the veterinarians had to tag the baby swans. The swans were old enough to begin venturing on their own, but still remained within sight of their mother. When the vet picked up the first baby swan the mother grabbed him with her beak and beat him with her wings. The welts and bruises were severe and the vet missed several days of work recovering from his wounds.

Just because they're cute does not mean they are not also dangerous. The man who stomped the geese had the right to be frightened, but he overreacted and should be subject to some form of punishment. There is a difference between protecting yourself and animal cruelty.

Those damn Canadian Gesse things are some of the meanest SOB's of any animal out there. I wouldn't have stomped the babies, but if mom attacked me, I'd think nothing about putting a .45 slug through her.

It's called "GOOSED" for a reason. It HURTS!

"Your response indicates you feel some sort of pleasure in seeing them die. There is something very wrong with that."

From your point of view, Nancy.

I never said stomping a baby bird to death brings joy.......I said hunting the damn things is a good thing.

The pertinent part is showing you "nice animal lovers" (I won't call anymore names, I apologize) that he may have problems, but hasn't done anything that should warrant taking his freedom, which is the very essence of the word arrest.

When I first saw the thread title I thought that Mr. Bender has "snapped" after seeing another AFLAC commercial.

The few times I've been threatened by hissing geese, I was able to intimidate them, and they backed off. No stomping either, just blowing up big with my arms out to the sides and hissing back at them while I stood my ground.

Maybe I was just lucky to face down wussy geese. (Plus, I was motivated by the fact they were going after my three year old daughter at the time.)

No, he shouldn't. They were geese-not people.

A lot of folks who abuse animals go on to abuse people. If you have no concern for the well-being of animals, then have concern for the well-being of people, and insist this pyscho be penalized to the full extent of the law.

No, actually you said something along the line of "a shotgun blast that stills their wings forever", brings you joy. I in fact agreed that humane population control is necessary, just that I wouldn't care to witness it happening. Calling me "Nancy" in a lame attempt to feminize me because i happen to be sensitive with regards to animals says a lot about where your coming from.

Maybe you ought to go down to your local animal shelter and get a few little kittens and put them in the micro wave. Maybe that would bring you joy also.

The only STUDY I found in 20 minutes of searching

A lot of folks who abuse animals go on to abuse people.

Ahh, the graduation assumption. Well read the supplied link, it seems that it really isn't that well defined. Tells me that if a lie is repeated often enough it will become widely believed.

Besides, do you really want to use this as a sort of "Pre-crime" system?

Apology accepted. :)

Contrary to what you might think, I'm not an animal lover to the extreme of the PETAs, ELFs, and other radicals. I did say that hunting is ok by me, both for sport and to control overpopulation.

But this is not what this guy did. As someone pointed out here above, it doesn't take much for a person to go from stomping a gosling to death to killing a human being. Remember that Jeffrey Dahmer started out killing animals, and we all know where he progressed from there. I'm wondering with this guy whether he has been violent with anyone before -- like his wife or significant other maybe?
