Alberta may secede from Canada, but it'll be a cold day in hell before they ever join the U.S.

They aren't stupid up there -- they realize that a Federal government in Washington D.C. would be worse than a Federal government in Ottawa.

As a practical matter, it would be hard to do. How would we address Social Security for Albertans? There are a million other questions just like that.

We like Alberta's oil and conservative spirit, but we might be far better off with it as an independent but friendly ally.
