Labour and the Liberal Democrats could care less about the troops. They are trying to appease their base of support, they think. I WAS surprised the EU was not more of an issue last week. Immigration, Iraq and the EU would seem to be the most important issues there from our perspective in the US.

Well, those and failed promises from Labour these past number of years. Blair appeared speechless when told of people being instructed to call back for doctor appointments so they would fall into the required timeline of 48 hours.

Rush's calling him Dingy Harry means imo that he's really not the real thing. LOL Some (shades of Katie Couric!) call him Searchlight Harry.

That is a new tactic Senate Dems are threatening to use. Apparently, every committee must have at least one of the opposition party (OP) present to do business. If no OP member is present, the committee cannot vote; thus it cannot get nominees out of committee

Nice to see that Senate Democrats are getting ideas from the Texas Legislature!

That about Blair and the doctors would have been quite funny if it were not true but living in an area where that is absolutely true I can only express further anger and frustration. Boy though did he sweat in that question and answer session one can fully understand why he would not allow Kennedy and Howard to debate him saying that they have their chance in Parliament each week did not cut it for me.

Then where does it go from their does that mean it being thrown out and therefore he cannot get the nomination or does another committee have to be appointed?

The only way that the DemocRATs could totally defeat Bolton in committee is to never show up for a committee meeting. As soon as they show up, the chairman - Lugar - will call for a vote.

If the RATs never show up, they would face a lot of bad publicity. It just isn't done. Thus, it's at best, a delaying tactic.

For a couple of days and then the media move on to something else it did not help that they are mainly Scottish regiments which surprised me that the Labour vote held up in Scotland. The only explanation I have for this is that they did not want the Scottish National Party and they still see the Conservatives as only really having the interest of the English. They still remember that the Conservatives tried the Pole tax in Scotland first.

I take it then there is no time limit on the Committee hearing it just will simply run out of time.

I like it. I hope the Democrats refuse to do the job they were elected to do so voters back home will realize how badly they are acting. Next, the Democrats will be holding their breath until they turn blue. Oops.... they've already done that as the country is moving to the Republican red column.

Saddam-Iran-North Korea = Minor "axis of evil"
Russia-China = Major "axis of evil"

Iran is getting its nukes from Russia, North Korea got them from China (and Bill Clinton).

Dems = petulant children who pout when they don't get their way. Don't the British say, "Sod 'em", snugs, when one wants to denigrate such actions?

FNS's next topic is No. Korea. It'll be interesting to see if/how Russia factors into the discussion.

Committee CAN send the nomination to the full senate even if there is no quorum or majority, without any recommendation & this is what WH advised them as per Bob Novak.
