I think he'll run, and I think he'll be a major contender.

I don't think he'll be nominated, just because he can't secure the base (though if his team played up the POW angle enough, he might).

The problem is that at this point, I can't see who else has a real shot.

Someone on FOX pointed out that McCain would be 72 in 2008 - that would make him the oldest person ever elected POTUS.

There is something wrong with him - I have heard that other POWs incarcerated at the same time won't give him the time of day. US Rep (or former Rep) Sam Johnson - from the Dallas area - for one. That's all we need is for the dims to be able to come up with their own version of the Swifties.

Careful vetting would definitely be in order - even if we could overlook CFR, his lack of interest in securing the border etc.

I think he needs more than a workout. More like Extreme Makeover.

Then there's the personality disorder...

Well, I do tend to agree with you. But as I said, is there anyone else who could get nominated?

LOL. I'd probably vote Libertarian or Constitution Party if it was McCain if one of them was on the ballot. .

The McCainiac would be a disaster.

I can't get too excited about a McCain presidency (understatement) and I don't think he could win.

But, I could be wrong. Personally I'd rather see someone like Tom Delay get the nod. He's getting plenty of name recognition here lately (yea, I know it isn't all good, lousy msm and all, but once he's vindicated, that won't matter).

We really need to find somebody we won't have to hold our nose to pull the lever for just because he's less slightly liberal then a democrat.

There's plenty of time. Hopefully that man will show up in time for 2008.

I think the Republican Party will come up with someone better than McCain... anyway, there's plenty of time. Let's hope the pubbies we elected to congress, and especially the senate, get the job done we elected them to do, like confirm judges.

Who is George Allen? And you think the religious right will get exited about Rudy? I don't think so. Us conservatives don't tend to like the philandering type too well, for too long.

I went to see him in 2000, and he walked by a few feet away. He had a completely phoney grin and wave and an almost albino complexion that looked strange in Florida. The meeting degenerated into a bitch session for individual vets, so I left, uninspired. He is not very tall. He has had operations for skin cancer.

McCain says he 'absolutely' wants to lead country

Sufficient reason to make a great effort he doesn't lead the country.

Time will tell. I really don't see anyone else who could realisticly get the nod, and defeat a rat, except for a rat in repub clothing.

Hillary v McCain; were doomed!

Kinda reminds me of the advertising slogan for the movies "Freddy vs. Jason" or "Alien vs. Predator":

Whoever wins, we lose.
