Dean's Debacle (pitiful $ performance)

DEAN'S DEBACLE

Democratic National Committee (DNC) fund raising under the chairmanship of Howard Dean shows a disappointing $16.7 million raised in the first quarter of 2005, compared with $34 million reported by the Republicans.

That tends to confirm dire predictions by old-line Democratic fund-raisers of a fall-off in money if Dean became chairman. He had promised to bring in heavy individual contributions, as he did in his 2004 campaign for president. But the DNC in the first quarter received only $13 million from individuals, compared to $31 million for the Republican National Committee (RNC).

A footnote: A recent DNC fund-raising appeal promised to send field workers to North Carolina, which does not have a major statewide election until 2008.

I thought it didn't matter anymore. George Soros just gives them whatever they want.

He did not scream loud enough - hence the results. There must be a certain monetary figure of contributions per decibel.

A little song, for the Dims:

Don't fall in love with a screamer...

And here I was told that Screamin' Dean was a moneymaker.

The irony of it is that the Dems (the people's party) collects big $ checks from a few donors while the Republicans collect much smaller checks from much more people...

I get a kick out of this non-news.

When election time rolls around the LSM trumpets the "sudden" and "surprising" record breaking amounts of cash that the party originally behind garners. The cash always evens out in the end.

The predictability of it all is mind numbing, but I guess the LSM needs to sell copy.

Someone send the Democrats a compass. They are completely lost and disoriented. Of course, it might be best if they just staid lost.

I think Novak is missing the picture--the fat cat lefty money (Soros, Lewis, etc.) is going to the Dems but thru the 527 dodge where it's harder to track--than thru the DNC. The Dems screwed themselves by pushing for CFR--they now have a shadow party of leftist loons, not reined in by party discipline and richly financed.

the 527 dodge
The last bastion of political free speech during election time. Just because our side doesn't use it enough, doesn't make it wrong. I think Soros has every right to spend a billion to promote his evil socialistic ideas. That's what free speech is all about. When CFR gets amended to stop 527's, then Joseph Geobels McCain and Heinrich Himler Feingold will be triumphant over all Americans.

It would be better to simply scrap CFR, require all contributions be posted on the IT within 24 hours of receipt, and return to the ban on foreign contributions (evaded by 527s which are not covered by the ban).

There is another possible explanation for this that we (especially those with DU accounts) should encourage, because frankly, it makes logical sense.

The hardest core left wing extremists in the Dem party are on DU and on DU those same extremists are still convinced the election process in the US stole votes and gave them to Bush.

We need to point out that anyone who is convinced of this is morally obligated to stop participating in any voting process. Until there is 100%, and I mean 100%, confidence all of these alleged problems are fixed, the DUer is ABSOLUT ELY MORALLY OBLIGATED TO STAY HOME AND NOT VOTE.

Nor must he send money to the DNC because given an absence of 100% confidence the "problems are fixed", it is a complete waste of money that a DUers family might need.

Sure, scrapping CFR and doing the two things you suggest would be better than banning 527s. But CFR isn't going to be scrapped. Not in this millenium. So I'll keep the 527 loophole, thank you, and we'll all be glad it's there later, I guarantee it.

Where in the media is Howard Dean? He hasn't made a major speech, that was reported in the media I have searched on the Internet, in over 2 weeks. That is a long time for The Screamer. I don't think a week has gone by, since he became chairman, that he hasn't made some outrageous remark that made the papers.

I sure hope somebody higher up (Hillary or Ted Kennedy) hasn't gotten to him and told him to tone it down.
