Republicans would lose both houses of congress if the Democrats really pushed this issue.

In one home, the task force found 30 cots in the basement, each one being rented for $5 a night.

30 X $5 = $150 per day = $1050 per week = about $4200-4500 per month. Was the homeowner or the person renting the place out, charged?

I think the people of this community should ask themselves if they too had a hand in this influx. If so many illegals are in this town, they have to ask themselves, why? The citizens are the ones hiring them. The illegals are their maids, child care providers, landscapers and gardeners and drivers. They fix and build their homes.

Go to the posh Hamptons in NY and when you see who rides the buses in and out town, you know that it's not just fast-food chains, Mega-Stores and construction workers hiring them. Even obscenely wealthy people want to save a few bucks.

But Connecticut's attorney general said Boughton needs the approval of the governor and others before that can happen.

It's unbelievable that a community's population can grow to twenty percent illegal and NOTHING IS DONE ABOUT IT! What is the problem with the governor? I've come to the conclusion that our system has created a class of lawyer/politicians who are fearless when it comes to trashing political opponents in order to gain power, but who are gutless and impotent when it comes to governing.

You know the illegal Brazilians you keep reading about?

This is another one of their footholds.

15,000 ILLEGALS in one town? Who's hiring them and why aren't they being prosecuted?

Look what just happened in Great Britain. Many seats were picked up by very conservative leaders in the latest election, because of their position on illegal immigration. I read and heard that one of the main issues driving the election this year was illegal immigration. The British people sent a very clear message to their elected officials - fix the problem. We have to do the same through elected officials who are willing to actually do something about the problem here in the US.

My company has a foundry in Kansas City Missouri called Stahl which employs approximately 1000 employees. 2 weeks ago the INS announced they were going into the plant to check the documentation of all aliens working there. The next day 106 workers never showed up for work.

The plant now has approximately 200 job openings. One of our guys was sent down there to do the hiring and as of the day before yesterday, he said that of the 40 people he has hired so far, 20 have quit.

If there are any FReepers in that area looking for work, let me know and I can certainly guarantee you an interview........

The Republicans are going to bear the blame and they will lose control of the house and the senate. They might as well, they're worthless. The Republican's have moved left and they are like the RATS used to be. The RATS have moved left so far they are now Socialists, and the Socialists have moved left and are now Commies!

America is DOOMED! Short of a revolution, there's no way to save it.

wait a minute. is it really the federal government's fault that they can't handle the influx of new citizens into their town?

while this plays nicely into the "screw the immigrants" mentality that appears a little further out into right field, it sounds like your basic good old fashioned buearocratic blame-shifting squeaky-wheel strategy.
