"Why are they so angry?" asked Teresa Gonzalez, 57, a Mexican immigrant and naturalized citizen.

Unless you support and aid illegal immigration, why do you even need to ask the question, Teresa?

We are angry exclusively at illegal aliens, all criminal by definition, who pollute our streets, overcrowd our jails and bankrupt our community programs.

Why is it, do you suppose, that if I were asked to prove my citizenship, I would be proud to do so; I suspect your reaction under similar circumstances would be to call the ACLU or a lawyer. Therein lies the answer to a plethora of questions...

O c'mon now. Businesses are in business to make as much profit as they can. If the federal and state governments are going to infect business with with heavy taxes and environmental regulations, and they can make more money by moving overseas, so be it.
CEO's don't own their corporations. They have to answer to stockholders. Just about every family owns stock. If government place prices caps on corporations or over-regulate them, we'll sell our stocks an invest in corporations that give us a higher rate of return. If a corporation's stock collapses, well there's your huge job loss.
If government reduces taxes, regulations the cost of doing business here goes down and jobs stay here. If government eliminates the minimum wage for migrant workers, all workers, competition takes affect. And crappy service disappears. For if you work harder and treat customers with respect you will be rewarded for your efforts. And the poor worker is stuck at 50 cents an hour if they're luck.

"Hispanics hold the same family values and Christian convictions many Republicans hold."

So do blacks. Obviously those values dont always translate into votes.

"But there's a mob feeling about some of the posts, and a lack of differentiation between illegal aliens and other Hispanics, some of whom have been here for generations, most of whom work extremely hard, and are law-abiding, tax-paying members of their communities."

The overwhelming majority of anti-illegal posters are very clear about the difference. Its those who are for illegal immigration that jump into every thread and imply the opposite. The anger many people feel is natural if not always expressed in positive ways. Its the product of being ignored for so long.

Time to start thinking of another name for yourself.
Evidently, you are not capable of making the distinction between legal and illegal residents/citizens.

I doubt that some people posting on this issue distinguish between "illegal Mexican immigrants" and Hispanics who were here generations before they were.

And ultimately, they may direct their rage on ALL hispanic-looking individuals. Similar to that moron who killed a Sikh after 9/11.

The consequence of all this hispanic-bashing will be to push hispanics over to the Democrat party along with Republican gays and Republican pro-choicers.

Congratulations, folks! Your anti-hispanic virulence has just made the GOP a permanent, whites only, minority political party.

---------------------------------------------------------

Congratulations on posting one of the most ignorant comments that I've read on Free Republic recently. By the way, would you consider the 47% of Hispanic voters who voted in favor of Arizona's Prop 200 to be anti-Hispanic?

Amazing isn't it how many posters can't concieve of a person with an Hispanic name, living in an Hispanic named city in an Hispanic named state could be anything other than an illegal foreigner?

What a stupid, disingenuous and specious statement.

What is really amazing is that anybody would actually believe what you said. But then, we all know that you're pro-illegal immigration, so we're not surprised.

HEADLINE: As border debate rages, immigrants' fears rise

Good, given the erroneous headline. I want illegal "migrants" to be very afraid. Legal immigrants should have nothing to fear.

The fact a naturalized citizen cares so little about this problem should be cautionary, at least to non-politicians.

Hve you lost your mind?

Most people on Free Republic aren't STUPID, like you seem to label them. In Texas, we can tell the difference.
My wife of 10 years is a 10th Generation Hispanic Texan, or Tejana, as we say, and she can't stand illegals anymore than I can! And if you seriously think most Hispanics are ever going to vote Republican, then you are deluded.

They have been, and always will go with the hand-out party, the good ole Democrats.

But there's a mob feeling about some of the posts, and a lack of differentiation between illegal aliens and other Hispanics, some of whom have been here for generations, most of whom work extremely hard, and are law-abiding, tax-paying members of their communities.

Well, you certainly got the debate going! I'm sorry, you may be logical, Ms., but you're not thinking clearly on this issue. You tarred an unspecified number of FReepers as racist hispanophobes (or xenophobes). If you take the time and make the effort to go back and read the threads, you'll see that less than 5 of a hundred FReepers talk/type as you suggest.

What the bulk of us want is a secure border that prevents, as much as is possible, the infiltration of unwanteds. Those include Hispanic gang-bangers like MS-13; illegal aliens from states that sponsor terrorism; illegals who have current outstanding US felony warrants against them; and people who come here to live off the fruit of our welfare system while sending those fruits to aid the economy of our neighbor instead of ours.

Can you imagine what kind of economic engine this country must be...when nearly $20 Billion annually is removed from it and sent overseas...and yet the economy is still growing?

Do you know that the USBP apprehended illegal OTMs (that's other than Mexicans) from over 20 state sponsors of terrorism last year, alone? That's countries like Syria, Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, China, Lebanon, and Iraq, for example.

No, LM, we're not anti-Hispanic; not the bulk of us. We're anti-criminal, and we don't much care whether our criminal enemies are foreign or domestic. Is that something your logical mind can wrap itself around?

And you are too lazy or incompetent to cite one.

Good heavens, you are a nasty thing. Yet in another post you have the nerve to talk about Christian values!

From your Profile Page:

I don't hire illegals, don't know any illegals that I know of, am not an immigration attorney or lobbyist; I and don't have any financial or personal interests in any Hispanics, immigrants or Mexico.

You protest your innocence too much while supporting illegals.

I call you a liar for that reason.

Liar.

">> Brand anyone who wants secure borders as racist, and pushing hispanics to the Rats.

Not "anyone" only those whose tone is such that ALL Hispanics including the Cuban-Americans in Florida who are reliable anti-communists and pro-republican will be offended.

The anger is misdirected to those poor wretches trying to come across. My anger is directed towards Vicente Fox and his regime which seeks to export the failure of their problems to us.

I'm for secure borders. It's just that with so many devout Christians posting, I fail to see any compassion or charity to wretches seeking only to feed their families.

We've seen such wretched souls before: with Jewish faces, Chinese faces, Tibetan faces, and on and on.

South and Central Americans face despots of several kinds:

1. a corrupt military and police force.

2. a corrupt oligarchy

3. a corrupt Catholic church which sides with the first two. Alas, those priests who side with the poor are usually Marxist.

Who preaches Democracy and Capitalism to these people. No one. "

I for one dont see any broadsiding of hispanics. I see broadsiding of illegals primarily. Where are you getting the idea that posters are anti-Cuban? You must be projecting.

Our anger is toward US and Mexican governments and policies and the results of their policies wrt illegal immigration on the southern border of the continental US. Many, myself included, suffer from lack of compassion when individuals decide to take a lawless trek through the desert and create problems on this side of the border. This is a formal policy of the MX govt. I do not care to subsidize the destruction and have no compassion for the illegals.

If you wish to be charitable you are welcome to go across the border or go to other countries and show your compassion, employ all that you can afford, just not on my dime, not with my tax monies.

What does despotism have to do with illegal immigration? We normally do not allow wholesale immigration from any country. Mexico is able to control their southern borders better than we can. Are the MXicans branded racist for controlling their southern borders? Is Fox now a despot? Why should the US fix latin American problems? Let these latin countries stew in their own filth. Democracy comes about when individuals get tired of raw deals and fix their own problems, instead of creating problems in other countries as a policy.

Mexico and all countries south of the US have plenty of natural and human resources to become economically self sustainable.

The lack of diplomatic reciprocity, corruption (Peso say so), racism on the part of hispanics towards gringos, is what I have issues with, which really drains any of my sympathies for lawbreakers in the US.
