Nothing like bringing the sweatshops to the customer instead of the customers to the sweatshop. I don't like the idea of a cruise ship with a bunch of engineers and software hackers, many from foreign lands, just off the shore of America in war time.

I guess "seamen" means anyone who works on a boat? That's the only way this could fly.

Sounds like the "abortion boat" in Europe has been re-tasked.

And "by the end of the year," they and their clients will be losers.

Unless these IT specialists want to handle lines and work the engineering spaces, the Seamen's Union ain't gonna go for this.

This shows how ridiculous the laws of this country are. A perfect illustration.

What these "buy from India" pinheads still do not get is that the code produced sucks, is of little value, and at any cost is a waste of money.

The plan is for SeaCode's engineers to work 8 to 10-hour shifts days and nights to get fast completion times of IT projects.
Sounds like the "The mythical man month"

The fact that this idea even came up shows in what contempt the IT function is currently held by American management. IT is increasingly seen as a commodity, like janitorial services, that doesn't make sense to keep as a part of permanent staff.

If you are an IT professional, realize that you've got an uphill battle ahead to regain mindshare in the marketplace. They think (not totally without justification) that you are the problem, not the solution.
