"The Second Amendment secures a right of individuals generally, not a right of states or a right restricted to persons serving in militias."Chew on that, you Commie pukes.

As I've often stated, if one believes the 2nd Amendment protects a collective right of the people exercised through government, then one must also believe that the 1st Amendment right of free speech is also a collective right exercised thru National Public Radio.

Isn't The New American that kooky John Birch Society rag? What's that got to do with anything. This report is not from them, it's from the The U.S. Department of Justice's Office of Legal Counsel of the United States.
That said, it's only their opinion, just like the famous 1982 Senate Judiciary Committee Report
If the later Congresses and the federal courts choose to ignore them, as has been the case in the recent past, they are just words on paper.
They'll probably continue to be ignored until the "Reset Button of the U.S. Constitution", as the Second Amendment has sometimes been known, is pressed.

JBS is kooky, all right, but like the blind pig they do dig up their share of acorns.

As I've often stated, if one believes the 2nd Amendment protects a collective right of the people exercised through government, then one must also believe that the 1st Amendment right of free speech is also a collective right exercised thru National Public Radio. Well not really, the right of free speech is not spoken of as a "right of the people" in the First amendment, as the RKBA is in the Second. Now the right of assembly and petition are so defined, as is the fourth amendment's right to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures.
Maybe the first amendment's right of free speech does only belong to NPR and it's state level equivalents, and the freedom on the press may only belong to the Government Printing Office. However the right to keep and bear arms belongs "to the people". Let the not so free press and the Berkleyites put that in their bongs and smoke it.
