The article is an excellent example of the spirit of anti-Christ.

or maybe it's just someone putting some historical context around a discovered parchment...

You mean Dameon was just an ordinary kid after all?

Personally I think the fact that he (from the 4th movie) and John Edwards look so much alike, is kind of creepy, but does explain alot.

But there is no mention in this article of the 616 number being something discussed before.

"Scholars have argued for a long time over this, and it now seems that 616 was the original number of the beast."

Here is something I found on Google:

Some texts have even been altered to give 616 which can give Nero Caesar in Latin or Gaios Kaisar (Caligula) in Greek, see Sweet

I think I read on a Willie Green post that the other 50 were outsourced to India.

Gotta give the Devil his due.

And let us not forget the friends (and hot girlfriend) of the Beast:

"It just shows you that when you study something as cryptic and mystic as the Book of Revelation there's an almost unlimited number of interpretations."

The understatement of all time.

Btw, does anyone know more about the source, the "National Post"? Is it respectable, or is it more like The National Enquirer?

"It just shows you that when you study something as cryptic and mystic as the Book of Revelation there's an almost unlimited number of interpretations."

  1. Does 616 appear elsewhere and scripture, if so, in what context?
  2. What does it do to the heptadic structure of the text?

(The heptadic structure is how we first determined that the so-called "early" Alexandrian texts were Gnostic BS. We have since found earlier fragments that prove that confirmed that the Alexandrian texts were Gnostic BS.)

There's a new zot thread on this. "Back hair of the Gorilla" posted it, but it's been pulled. I think, however, the mods will put it back up here in a minute...

Yeah, right. To those of us familiar with Bible textual criticism, we see in this but another example of "the oldest is the bestest" theory.

The proponents of the Septuagint text claim it, being the oldest, is the superior Hebrew text. However, many scholars take sharp issue with it, bringing forth convincing arguments against its supposed superiority.

Same with the proponents of the Alexandrian New Testament text. Scholarly opponents shoot holes through their supposed "oldest is the best" theory.

And here is yet another idiot preying on the ignorance of the masses with his supposed oldest, and thus superior Revelation text.

Yeah, sure. Yet every testimony from ancient church history refutes it. Go as far back in church history as you want and you find writers commenting on the 666 text. Irenaeus, one of the earliest writers, for instance. He, just like many today, speculated on the significance of 666. Not 616 mind you, but 666.

The claim that this text is the oldest is probably bogus. It would be interesting to see a scholarly response to it. And even if they did have some pretty good evidence for their antiquity claims, scholars can prove that a claim for "oldest" does not neccesarily mean it is a superior text.

For anyone interested, do research on the various debates for and against the Septuagint, Masoretic, Alexandrian, Byzantine Biblical texts and you will see what I am talking about.

Beast's real mark devalued to '616'not '666'

As the bear market continues the number of the beast lost 7% closing at 616 from it's previous high of 666. Abby Joseph Conan chief investment strategist of Golden Calf Insestments is still bullish. She says "look we were at the previous high for nearly 2000 years, this is just a temporary correction. Ralph Makeyapoora of J.P.Morganchasem concures. But the man on the street is not reassured. We asked Palm Beach retieree Damien (last name witheld) was quoted as saying "on my fixed income I can't take anymore risk. I'm getting out before things turn Apocolyptic." Gold bugs also welcome the instability in the market saying now gold really is the only sure thing.

This has been your market update from CNBS financial news.
