Not particularly. There were some parties going on in San Fernando near Mission Blvd that I can't attend. Gringos like me are welcome. Gang members are not allowed. They are well-armed people people that "sort-of" kicked them out of there.

They just saw a bunch of Spanish and English-speaking guys strolling around with guns that talked Spanglish. So the French said "screw this" and shipped out. The Republic of Texas was formed around this time by Sam Houston, wasn't it?
There have been reports also that even a bigger roadblock than assimilation is the fact that so many of those that are illegal that come here aren't even literate in their OWN language, so in schools they not only have to be taught English but proper Spanish as well. But this isn't something that our politicians see as being a problem or drain on our school systems. Obviously, this isn't a thread about illegal immigration but the fact that soooo many of them are breeding more of a separatist mentality than anything, and they don't even pledge allegiance to THIS country, I guess it just gets me and is a huge source of irritation.

I'm the only one in my office who found this odd.
I ain't got nothing against Cinco de Mayo parades, even if they're on the wrong day. I just don't like lawlessness and the breakdown of respect for country, state, and community this melee in Richmond, CA represents. I hope your celebrants, even on the wrong day, are better behaved.
