The Heart of Texas Chapter of FreeRepublic.com showed Bill Clinton what Real Texans think of him. We met at 9:30AM at BookPeople on 6th and Lamar in Austin, Texas. Bill Clinton was there to sign his book My Life(of Lies) which was to start at 10:00AM. There were probably about 1,000 desperate liberals who started lining up at Midnight just for the opportunity to meet the Impeached Ex-President and Disbarred Arkansas Lawyer Bill Rodham-Clinton.
The honor roll was Judy(who couldn't remember her screenname), Zimmerman, SueBee88 and her son Patrick, myself, and NYTexan(all the way from New York). Bubba actually surprised us by getting there a whole hour early which may be a first, so we didn't get to greet him as he came in. Nevertheless, we had a very captive audience of a thousand Clinton-Clowns standing in line. Actually, there were a few Bush supporters that were standing with friends and came over to get their picture taken with us. There was even a couple from Brazil that stopped by for a photo opportunity with us.
We heard the typical rants from the liberals and enjoyed the bantering back and forth. Since the line would move every now and then, several of the unwashed shouted at us asking where the wepons of mass destruction were. We told them to ask their buddy Bill, since he told us about them many times. We had the typical number of middle fingers directed our way and asked them if that was their IQ. One guy got the better of me by replying, "Yes, but it's still higher than Bush's" and drove off before I could give him a comparison of Kerry/Bush IQs. Several folks walked by us on the way out showing off their autographed Clinton books, so we asked them if they smiled when Clinton said, "Next". We warned a few young ladies in line not to touch the cigar. A few folks asked why SueBee88's son wasn't in school, so we told them that he had escaped Hillary's Village and was homeschooled and having a Civics lesson on the First Amendment. He was pretty vocal himself. We also unfurled our large Clinton Legacy: National Insecurity Banner that Gracey had mad a few years ago.
We did a few short chants, such as "Bill Deserves Another Term"(see sign below), "Never trust a Clinton with National Security", and ended our FReep with the traditional Cops Cheer. We gave interviews to a couple of stations. The local Fox affiliate showed the "Why Anyone Buys Bill Clinton's Lies? P.T. Barnum knows" sign with a short statement from us. The ABC affiliate took some footage of us, but I missed their report. Even the Austin [un]American [mis]Statesman had a photo of SueBee88's son with holding the "Bill Deserves Another Term" sign as part of a 3 picture collage at the top of their website for a while. The last I checked, they pulled it off as well as any mention of the Clinton visit. I guess we'll see what comes out tomorrow in the paper(I'll have someone else tell me since I don't buy it).
Several of us had to get back to work and the line was winding down, so we wrapped it up a little after 11:00AM and headed on our way. We made our presence felt, got a bit of news coverage, and had a wonderful time FReeping. Thanks to everyone who made it out there.
