WASHINGTON, D.C. – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman, Ken Mehlman issued the following statement today, in celebration of Cinco de Mayo:

“Cinco de Mayo has become an integral part of our American culture. Today, we honor the courage and sacrifice of General Ignacio Zaragoza and the small army of soldiers who fought against incredible odds for liberty, opportunity, and hope, and triumphed at the Battle of Puebla in 1862. On this fifth day of May, we recognize the invaluable contributions Mexican Americans have made and continue to make to our country. We reaffirm the Republican Party’s commitment to the policies that secure freedom and opportunity, and offer Mexican Americans the American Dream--getting the best education, buying a home, owning their own business, having access to affordable health care and a nest egg they can pass on to future generations.”

Could I have some of that, too? Especially the parts about affordable health care and that nest egg.

Well, as a teenager here in Southern Ca, that's when you went down to Mexico to get stinking drunk and try to avoid being arrested by the Federales.

...and offer Mexican Americans the American Dream...
----

Should read: ...and PROVIDE illegal Mexicans the American Dream, just like REAL AMERICANS who have to PAY for theirs and be citizens as well...

(huge barfing sound in background)

I think it's a bigger deal here than south of the border. A good excuse to eat tacos and drink margaritas. Viva Mexico!

Cinco de Mayo is the day that Mexicans celebrate their one military victory.

But it was against the French so who cares?

The replies to this post (which is a good one) are way beneath what I hope our Free Republic stands for. Some of us Freepers need to stop the nastiness - leave that to the Lefties. You diminish our site - BIG TIME! Shame on you, Dagny
