I'm trying to find out how long the congress was in recess before the attacks of September 11, 2001. I have been unable to find a schedule online for the year 2001, but I know that congress was in session on the day of the attacks. Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Contact the Congresional clerk's office.
That's just what I did and I found exactly what I was looking for.
Thanks, edcoil!
I work on Capitol Hill, the attacks began as I entered my office that fatefull morning. 9/11/01 was on a Tuesday, so the House was probably not scheduled to go into session later on in the day. We evacuated shortly after we arrived to work for obvious reasons. That day will live with me for the rest of my life, especially looking west, observing huge plumes of smoke bellowing from the Pentagon.

Don't ask John Kerry, he has no idea.
Thanks to everyone for the help, I needed it!
