I received this e-mail from NYSCatholicConference.org:
Stop Cloning and Embryo Research Contact Your Assembly Representative Now
On Tuesday, May 3, 2005 the New York State Assembly Health Committee voted in favor of releasing dangerous legislation (A.6300)that would promote human cloning for the purpose of conducting medical experiments on living human embryos. This means that the full Assembly can vote on this issue in the very near future. Please urge your Assembly representative to oppose this bill. Embryonic stem cell research depends on human cloning and is a radical assault on human life! Take action now.
Read about some of the NUMEROUS cures at this link:

Nothing until the NY State Senate passes an identical bill. Something tells me that's not likely, but you never know with NY's RINOs.
But that begs the question, in that situation, what is Pataki expected to do?
That's a GREAT link, and very informative.
I'll repeat the link again here, but if you want to post the entire page, it would be a good idea.

My dad has Alzheimer's and I was surprised to see it Alzheimer's listed.
I have read that the media was asked to call Cloning "Nuclear transfer" - probably so we won't know what it is.
All I know is that Pataki is pro-abortion, so I suspect he will do whatever helps Pataki.
God knows. He may not run again. His polls have been lousy. Maybe, if it gets to his office, he'll veto it. But he's become one of the worst RINOs, so maybe I'm dreaming.
That's a LOT of eleventh-hour conversion work. A safe guess, realism always being essential to assessing any situation, is that many places in America are already "gone" on this issue. The horrors of post-Christian civilization have begun... They run their course until a generation arises that is sickened by the grotesque new barbarism.
It's a scarry world and getting scarrier.
Here's stem cell 101 for any newbee's:
There are two kinds of stem cells - ADULT stem cells and EMBRYO stem cells.
It gets confusing, because they even call umbilico cords ADULT stem cells, or if a child uses their own stem cells to cure their disease, it is called ADULT stem cells.
A clue is that with ADULT stem cells, you don't have to kill an embryo.
The reason that the bill will lead to cloning is because there aren't enough embryos for the mad scientists to experiment on so they will turn to cloning.
This gives an excellent explanation, and shows how ADULT stem cells have helped with illnesses, including Alzheimer's, provided by NeverDem.

I copied and sent their message after I added some comments to the Honorable Jeffrey Dinowitz (D) at his contact page.
I'm a bit confused by your post, but it's probably because I'm tired.
There is a formula, and it goes like this:
If you e-mail, it counts it as 10 voters.
If you call, it counts it as 50 voters.
If you write a letter, it counts it as 100 voters, but send letters to local office because of Anthrax scare in D.C.
If you go in person, it counts it as 500 voters.
Of course, we can forget the D.C. in this case, since we are contacting our NYS assemblypersons.
I better call it a day.
zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz
I have noticed when talking to people on the "liberal" secular humanist side of such issues that they seem incredibly insensitive and jaded almost like they are possessed or under the grip of some evil force.
Unfortunately, my local reps -- Sen. Saland and Assm. Miller -- are two the biggest RINO's in the State Legislature, who can'seem to see anything beyond Pataki's anus.
I am stuck with Sam Hoyt and Sen Byron Brown..
Brown also wants to run for mayor of Buffalo.
The only good Assemblyman here is Jim Hayes.
I haven't used the words "good" and "assemblyman" in the same sentence since the early 1990's.
I agree..
I do like his politics although he is one Republican in a sea of democrats.
I just emailed Sam Hoyt.
