"extreme right wing pundit" I don't think I have ever heard of someone on the left being called an "extreme left wing pundit".....anybody?
Nope. Of course, we're probably just your typical, oppressive, male dominated, white, right-wing religious extremists, unfairly labeling the left. ;-)
Extreme right-wing pundit? how the heck would they describe Ward Churchill? Or Seymour Hersh?
The credibility of the writer and the story went out the window with the first sentence.
First thing I thought of. Have you heard Ward Churchill intorduced as an extreme left wing professor?
Not that I think Ann minds. I think she glories in it. Just gives her more fodder.
Extreme left pundits are codeworded as 'MODERATES'
Extreme editorial comment in a supposed straight news story.
Because there are no extreme left-wing pundits. There are only moderates, conservatives and extreme right-wing conservatives. At least, according to the media.
note:
"Before the speech began, the International Socialist Organization protested outside ... "
do you see any reference to their being extremely left wing? (and no wimping out, Texan, with 'the name says it all')?
The Left is never called extreme anything although the shout, scream and throw things.
I recognize them as idiots. Never argue with idiots.
Nope. Never heard it. Clearly, Ann Coulter is a conservative, not right-wing -- and certainly not "extreme right-wing." But left-wingers play this language game well -- better than we do, at least for now.
I believe David Horowitz wrote something on the subject in one of his more recent books. If I remember correctly, he suggests using such terms as "leftist" when dealing with, well, the Left. It's something I make a point of doing now. (Leftists are so shocked when you go tit-for-tat with them -- give them a "left-wing" for every "right-wing" they give you.) I think it's important. The Left has controlled the language, and thus the debate, for too long.
They could have been fair and called the Socialists "extreme leftists".
