While it is great news...it does mean a new election might occur...and King county still exists....so I don't see how you can beat the corruption there. We'd have to have at least 5,000 poll watchers active in the county to make it work legal.

Your concerns are exactly those raised by my wife this evening. Things to consider:

1) This new election would be the most closely monitored in state history, with both parties heavily involved.

2) Since taking office, Christine Gregoire has done anything but help her cause in the public sentiment arena.

3) Anti-Gregoire sentiment is so strong in the rest of the state that it would overpower anything KC could muster. The anger people have trumps party affiliation and finds its roots in resentment at being dictated by one county. Many Democrats, too, from rural areas of the state are hopping mad for this reason, and would much rather link arms with fellow-rural Republicans than with the likes of Ron Simms and Dean Logan.

Actually, King County doesn't exist anymore, and hasn't for about the last month or so.

It's now "Martin Luther King" county.

I kid you not.

She signed the bill.
